War of the Worlds TV -

They got me. The show finally made sense on the second to last episode of Season 2. I would be surprised if they planned the twist that far ahead as the show needed to be renewed for both Season 2 and 3. But the pay off of what is happening is worth putting up with the show. It still has problems but for sci-fi / horror fans check it out.

Which version is this? The one set in Victorian England?

This one.

I don't think the Victorian one aired in the United States yet. Or I missed it. I want to see that one too.

IMO last good season was the Trinity killer...it majorly ran out of steam after that point. Still nice to see the cast being the case, but still.

So far in watching DEXTER, first 5 seasons are very good. Six had potential, liked the inclusion of Brother Sam and great Ronny Cox turn. But Travis wore thin very quickly and the "Nebraska" episode was just Stupid.

Titans.
Pretty good launch and second episode.
They're majorly wonky on history, but I really like what they've done with this show, and may be one of my favourite comic adaptations ever.

Up to date with: The Walking Dead, Titans, Wentworth (great opening episode of their final season), and watching through "Archer" for the first time.

American Horror Story -

I saw that two episodes were on late. I didn't mean to check it out since I'm behind on the series and haven't seen it since the Freak Show season. But I watched a good amount, like an hour and a half, of those two episodes and it seemed really good. I was cool seeing those actors again.

I do remember that the shows always started off well. But according to wiki this is a short season. And I remember from Bloody Disgusting that they were doing a poll on which monster to pick. And it's going to be a two part season.

So what I'm going to do is watch it straight during the October month. And see if they put up the seasons I missed On Demand during September or October.

cheebacheeba 09-01-2021 08:18 PM

Brooklyn 99.
Yeah...not sure if they're trying REALLY hard to have a good last season, but these are some of the best episodes I've seen in AGES.
Since they're going through all their regularly recurring characters and tropes, I rally hope their final HEIST mission is killer.

Chapelwaite ep. 1-4 6/10

This is an odd one.

Inspired by Stephen King’s short story “Jerusalems Lot” which was inspired by Lovecraft’s short story “Rats in the wall”, but in reality it’s more of a blend between the two and “Salems Lot”. Sounds good, but the show doesn’t work for me. Maybe it’s the actors, maybe it’s the characters, maybe it’s the scares that doesn’t work or maybe it’s simply because the story isn’t told very well. Most of all I blame the director. He had something there that could’ve been really special.

Charles' meeting with Jakub was amazing! So many upside down crosses.

Angra 09-13-2021 12:35 AM

Chapelwaite ep 5 7/10

When I heard Brody was going to Jerusalem’s Lot I thought, fuck yeah, NOW it’s the beginning of King’s short story. But no, Jerusalem’s Lot didn’t turn out to be a ghost town and nothing was like the book and it probably never gonna be. And like with the former episodes the atmosphere just isn’t very scary even though it really tries to be.

No, give me a movie or a tv show about the origins of the Marsten House instead.

Y - The Last Man (FX), eps 1 & 2.
Not sure if these were officially aired or "pre-release".
All the same yeah...it was a good watch. Intriguing.

Can't say this enough, the comic was one of my favourite, ever. Read every issue.
The only comic I've purchased a complete omnibus of.
Great story - and if the show can do this any justice at all, it'll be amazing.

Give it a watch.

I never got the comic. I was behind and forgot. Now it goes for a lot. All these comics take off in price once a TV show is announced now. It probably started with the Walking Dead.

Not unless the Omnibus sold out. I was talking the #1 issue.

Usually they reprint those collected editions every so often. Unless it's a Absolute type book. They seem to only reprint the really popular stories. And even then they might stop printing those.
