Lovecraft Country -

It didn't end on the best note for me.

It's well worth checking out. I thought the first five Seasons were about as good as TV could get. Last three were kind of hit and miss.

I started watching the new Creepshow Series on Shudder. I only watched one episode so far. In the first one I thought the first story wasn't that good mostly cause I dont know if I missed something but I had no idea why the dad was turning into whatever that was and I didn't like the rushed ending but I guess that's anthologies for you. I liked the second story with the scary dolls head though. I liked that it kept the style of the films as well.

The Mandalorian Season 2, Ep. 1 8/10

Strong start. Didn't add a thing to the overall story, which I'm not even sure what is anymore, but the visuals as well as the budget behind this episode was impressive and Timothy Olyphant sure didn't make it worse.

One of my favorite episodes so far.

I'm checking it out tonight. The story did seem to scatter at the end of last season.

Nancy Drew (2019) Season 1 Episode 1 Thumbs Down
I like to see a mystery solved! That's why this blows...
It didn't solve a mystery, it only started a few story arcs. No thank you.
This series chose "Nancy Drew"; that comes with responsibilities, like solving a mystery every episode. You can still have on-going story arcs, but you have to solve a mystery per ep.

Imagine sitting down to watch a Perry Mason ep and by the end it just sets up how Perry is dealing with an alcohol problem, and his mom has cancer...

Plus, the ep starts with Nancy Drew having sex with a dude, just for fun, she's not involved with him. You know "Nancy Drew" is a long time youth readers book series, mainly for young ladies. That should have been respected. It's not like today's TV series is awash with chase young lady characters... do they have to sexify every non-sexual youth figure that ever existed?

I was hoping that Nancy Drew was going to be similar to Riverdale since that show basically has Betty playing a Nancy Drew type character.

You know, it depends what ya like. Solving a mystery per ep aside, Nancy just wasn't sharp enough for me, just too nebulous. One of things I liked about the early Supernatural eps is that they killed the monster by the end of the ep, along with having season/series arcs. Same with Xfiles. I'm also fine with a mysterious series like Twin Peaks, but don't want that from something called Nancy Drew.

It looked good. But I thought it was relatively boring. I really don't like these "day in the life" milk it out eps. I wished Favreau would just do eps that advance the main story arc of 'the child', and the guild, or whatever, and move on to the next main story arc.

I don’t think that’s his plan with this series. Think of it as the series Brisco County Jr, starring Bruce Campbell. There is somewhat of an overall story, but it’s not really important.

Cryptid Season 1 7/10

Ridiculous plot, but it all adds to the entertainment of this 3 hour short first season.

SpookyEli 11-09-2020 03:52 PM

The Twilight Zone (2019) episodes one, two, six, and ten.
Ep one was good
Ep two was confusing
Ep six was chilling
Ep ten was sweet and meta

I'm afraid you're probably right. I got the feeling he was going to stoop to that when they did the old 'seven samurai' story when he has the help of MMA actor Gina Carano. When they started into it, I was like, please, Jon, please don't do this...

Oh, I couldn't tell from the poster they used, but I see this is a 'documentary reality series'. What do you think? Do they actually capture an real paranormal activity? You think it's real?

Supernatural -

Anyone watching the final season? I believe hammerfan used to watch it. I stopped seasons ago. I have to check but I'm sure I stopped before Season 10.

They had a bunch of rerun episodes on and I watched one of the great ones from between Season 1 and 5. The episode with the repeating timeline. They also showed one of the later Season episodes which wasn't good at all. Almost cartoonish with the light tone that I mentioned when I stopped watching it. But I realized that I missed these characters. I still haven't picked up Seasons 1 - 5 on Blu or even higher definition. Which I will eventually.

I don't know if I'll read the wiki on the missed seasons anymore. I read a bit on the last season and a spoiler that I can't believe with the Angel character. Also how God's character is behaving.

Having watched it in the past, I felt compelled to watch the series finale. All I can say is: LAME! They deserved a much more exciting end!

Yeah it wasn't that good.

Someone on the HorrorDVDs forum told me about the previous episode. So I watched that one too. It is odd. It's like they made Episode 19 as a season and series finale and thought that wasn't good enough. And also someone for some crazy reason wanted to give the brothers and the actors their own ending so they made yet another episode.

In many ways, it makes me kind of angry now. Because it feels like the X-Files with the bad second movie's ending with Mulder and Scully waving at the camera. I haven't seen the newer X-Files episodes yet. But it just feels like Supernatural wasn't plotted out fully when you see stuff like those last two episodes. I read a post on another forum that said the show has been aimless since Season 5. I know I got through Season 6. And Season 7 felt like a slog. But Supernatural could have come back. They could have made a special movie length Halloween episode every year or two. There was no reason to end it like that. The actors are still young.

I have been skimming through the wikia and I am curious about some of the stories and characters. I knew nothing about Jack. But I think I was never happy with the idea of God actually being a part of Supernatural. I can't fully remember my thoughts. I didn't like that final fight in Episode 19.

I know I'm going to watch Seasons 1 - 5 again. Maybe I'll watch Seasons 8 - 15 first to compare. I want to see the Apocalypse World that seems like a Star Trek Mirror type world.

Waiting for Apollo Creed to shoot four tie fighters from the back of the vehicle is not my idea of original television.

Comon, Favreau! Get back to the story. There's an infinite number of new stories to do after that. You don't have to bore us with these filler eps!

I will say that it LOOKED good. Can't put a finger on the FX and CGI. But not being a complete Star Wars fan boy, that doesn't save a tv show for me.

All the action just becomes tiresome when you're not the slightest worried for any of the characters wellbeing. Then it just becomes filler.

Same problem I have with all action in movies and tv shows in general.

Hammer House Of Horror S1 E1: Witching Time.

Good lord this was hokey. It straddled the line between entertaining and trite. I particularly enjoyed the conversation between The Wife and The Priest.

Can anyone around here who’s older than me, I:E lived through the 80’s, please tell me weather or not people actually talked like this before cynicism became vogue?

By the creator of The Raid(s) and Apostle.

If you have seen The Raid you have a pretty good idea how the action is gonna be. Violent, gory and Intense. Episode 5 was just non-stop adrenaline pumping action for about 35 minutes. Absolutely awsome.
