Yes basically they are great apes, although of a different family from the gorillas and proper apes and chimps. Highly intelligent, with really long arms.

Chinatown is a bonafide masterpiece, and Two Jakes was pretty darn good too, so I have to vote for them over DeNiro & Crystal.
