They do disguise the singer's voice, so, it's not easy to guess. The reveal this week was pretty funny! |

Star Trek: Discovery. Season 2, Episode 1.
Yup. Still a quality show. I like that they're swinging it in a bit of a new direction this season. |

"Set roughly a decade before the events of the original Star Trek series, Discovery explores the Federation–Klingon war while following the crew of the USS Discovery." That sounds like a cool area of time and arc story. Making it only a decade before the events of the original series sounds like a tough thing to pull off visually. I mean the original series art design was great, but had some flashing lights on consoles and other things that might seem too 'old' or weird for today's viewers. They matching all the art sets the original series had, or something different? How you think they're pulling off the whole Star Trek universe? |

Though, the Enterprise does make an appearance, and yes it looks like the "old" Enterprise, with a bit of a kind of "todays technology" look? Like an updated version. There's a bit of musical homage to the original series, but a score that stands on its own too - kind of a bit like what they did with the "prequel trilogy" SW stuff. There's also newer versions of some old technology, but balancing that out, we actually get bridge sound effects from the old series thrown in. As an "original universe" Star Trek fan...I for one don't hate it, but there has been a bit of nitpicking by the fan base, largely based on the "why do they have technology the enterprise didn't" etc. Tone-wise it's quite different...as you'd have seen from the first episode. We had a focus on one "main" character unlike most ST, we had a mutiny. The start of one of the most notorious wars in ST history. Plenty of death. A main character that through her own actions becomes something of an untrusted outcast. It doesn't get any more light hearted. It has funny moments but it's a pretty damn dark show. It's not doing lesson of the week type stuff, it's just focussing on the story. It's not really episodic either. Personally? I think it's some of the best written trek I've ever seen - and the twists they throw at you? Wow. The acting is right up there for Trek too. All I can say is I would HIGHLY recommend it, to Trek fans and those that aren't. You don't need any grounding in the former series to enjoy this. |
I watched Perfume. It's not horror, but it's a good mystery genre film.

I heard the peacock. The voice was pretty clear. He sounds roughly familiar, but I may never have heard him. Who do you think it is? |
It's Luther Vandross.
Last watched "The Orville". Not the latest episode, the one before it. Treads into some well-worn Star Trek boots (Having to work with an enemy to survive a hostile situation/terrain) but doing well at it. I've noticed a lot less comedy in this season. You can tell that McFarlane has wanted to do a show like this for a while (there's even a student "movie" online with a young Seth and friend playing Starfleet officers) when you watch the Orville...he works on the show and as part of the actual cast as well, seems to be having fun - and it's been great to see across both seasons that he's "reeling it in" a bit, we didn't get another carbon copy of Family Guy - We got a heartfelt, and well thought out sci-fi show with a cast that plays really well off each other. The comedy reduction this season...I think it's that McFarlane may have started to realise that his vision can still be funny, still be interesting and watchable, without an intentionally whacky joke every two minutes. Honestly? I feel like we might be seeing Seth McFarlane become like, a "real director" after all these family guy years, I still think this is the best thing he's ever done. But yeah...still good stuff. I love DISCOVERY, but this is actually closer to what ST *was*. |

Also, I think the raven is Gladys Knight, the monster is Ceelo Green, the rabbit is Joey Fatone, the lion is either Sophie Simmons or the oldest Kardashian daughter. Who am I missing? |

Supposed to be the big one, the 300th episode. Brought back Jeffrey Dean Morgan as John Winchester. Honestly, I felt VERY let down by the episode. I expected something a bit more exciting. ::mad:: |

I guess we will see a lot more different adaptions now that they lost the Marvel rights. Cool they have the rights to Mark Millar's stuff and I'm looking forward to what happens with that. |
tried watching Man in the high tower season 2, as S1 was good, watch ep 1, but I couldn't get into it. Cool source material, but seemed slow, I guess I don't care anymore. ::big grin::

I kind of expected the finale to be a bit more crazy but this was a pretty good watch. |
Angel
Just starting the storyline where Cordelia is pregnant. If I remember right, I hated this storyline. |

I just checked wiki and I think I stopped watching at Season 7. They are on Season 14 now. I would be surprised if any of those seasons are as good as the two seasons of Counterpart. It's not horror though. Counterpart was just cancelled but it was two really good seasons. |

I've got 10 seasons of supernatural I bought super cheap on Bluray on a sale, I think about $10AUD (er...I'm guessing about $8USD) each.
I've always thought it looked like a decent show. I've seen the first couple of episodes and yeah, seems watchable. Kind of like a better quality "Grimm". I'm just kind of waiting on watching it. Too much stuff. Though yeah I will say - it's run for a hell of a long time now. It's hard to believe that even for the die hard fans this wouldn't have fallen into the "background noise/time killer" category by now. Right now I'm watching on netflix with my sweet girls, a cartoon called "The Dragon Prince". Season 2 just came out. I've been quite surprised by the quality of the animated series that have come out on netlflix, I really have - and I've found this one to be one of the most watchable. It's funny, heartfelt, exciting, colourful...Quite a solid mythos/back story. Mystery and intrigue, a huge division/conflict between two races, and a possibility of peace that hangs in the balance. Good range of characters ranging from heroic to gray area to outright villainous...and a really nice animation style. I'd recommend this, for adults and kids alike. I'd also recommend "the hollow". |
