Haven't seen the others, but [REC] is one of the very few movies (recent or otherwise) to legitimately creep me out. That deserves a vote in and of itself.

Ginger Snaps

One of the best modern era horror films. This kicked my ass when it came out especially since the majority of genre films were teen-Scream crap.
