Had, among other things (beer and wine), hot coffee with Bailey's at a wedding tonight.

newb 07-12-2009 08:38 AM

bought a six of these over the weekend KONA : FIRE ROCK PALE ALE

Very smooth with a surprisingly heavy malty side for a pale ale.

The two best blonde ales I've ever tasted are

Orval Trappist

and Troubadour Blond.

i've been to 2 weddings in a fortnight, i don't think i've drunk that much in years. asian weddings are great - they just kept bringing bottles of whisky to the table.

I drank some Duvel's on Friday night along with some grolsch, tried a lone star yesterday, followed that with some german beer called finkbrau and then some San Miguels... Then I went for some red wine from Argentina as I was making a pasta sauce.

Fuck Mondays!

The_Return 07-27-2009 04:53 AM

So, Saturday night I went out drinking with a couple of female friends...wasn't planning to drink, so I didn't get out to buy anything of my own - therefore I was stuck with woman drinks:

http://www.beveragewarehouse.com/ima...ducts/2946.gif

And a bunch of Raspberry Sour Puss, plus some other kind of flavoured rum (not sure what it was exactly).

I learned a very valuable lesson that night: even though they might not pack much of a kick and you hardly even know you're drinking...if you down as much as I did, you still get fucking plastered. I'm talking like, passed out on the lawn, parents dragging you inside, can hardly function the next day kind of drunk. Was NOT a good time.

god - not the cheap ass religious ones i went to.

most were dry.

i went to one that actually had a bar (i was the only white guy there) and finally said screw it - i'm getting a beer half way through the night - the bar tender told me i was the only guy to have gotten a drink.

X¤MurderDoll¤X 07-27-2009 10:49 AM

I think those were flukes zwoti.

zwoti 07-27-2009 01:36 PM

well the first (work associate and ex-member of hdc) was a "normal" wedding, so we had to pay for the drinks....that cost a lot.

the second (work colleague) was the asian wedding, the only drink i had to pay for was the one in the hotel beforehand while waiting for it to start.

Stopped into a new microbrewery that just opened up here in town ("Big Tide Brewery") and tried their Hemp Pale Ale. It was a nice brew - the people I was with were pretty impressed - but it was a little bitter for my personal tastes. Still, pretty cool to have a place like this around...I'll be checking out their other brews in the near future.

Someone REALLY should have told me Absinthe tastes like black licorice.
I hate black licorice.
Man, I feel like a tool.

Caenxavier 08-15-2009 12:16 PM

Just had a beer called Dragonbreath. It's a dark hefeweizen, a bit odd but really good. I also discovered a beer called Nine Pound porter, it's a bit spicy and really really good.

I also bought my girlfriend a nice bottle of white wine from a local vineyard. Normally I don't like white wine that much but these guys know what their doing. I'm stopping in there next week for a free wine tasting.

If you get a chance try some moscato d'asti
Don't think I've tried a brand so far that sux.
It's light, white, sweet and sparkly

Hmm, this new wine has given me hope for white wine so I think I'll check that out. I'm more of a sangria and chianti guy myself, I like them a bit dry.

Weird I thought Absinthe tased like insanely strong mouthwash.

Drank some Hoegaardens last night. I'll have to do it more often I forgot how much I liked this beer. Pretty expensive over here but thats all good if you only feel like drinking a few beers. Been into "quality over quantity" lately :D

Does it make a difference if you don't strain the water over a sugar cube?
I couldn't find sugar cubes...do they even make the damn things anymore??

Anyway, mouthwash doesn't sound any better...:(

Drink of choice for the evening:

http://popsop.ru/wp-content/uploads/...ne_preview.jpg

Never tried it before, hope it's decent. I've mostly been drinking Pump House lately - great stuff, try it if you can - but now that I've moved I can't find it anywhere. Seems it's more regional than I though, which is a real shame.

DraculaInDallas 09-05-2009 11:29 PM
