The Blood Rose (1970)

French film about a famous painter whose wife is horribly disfigured in a fire. He tells the world she is dead, and becomes a recluse in his country estate. He discovers that one of the people who work in his horticultural business is an infamous plastic surgeon, struck off for a botched operation on a child. This surgeon has been performing operations for criminals to change their appearance. With this information, our protagonist attempts to blackmail this surgeon into restoring his wife's lost beauty...

Interesting film, with the development of a good atmosphere.

I felt a little disappointed with the ending, but it wasn't a deal-breaker.

Worth a watch.

Death Tunnel ~ I have to give those that made this film some credit.....they tried. They took this business of making a horror film very seriously. Too seriously, you might say. Its a mess really. Its muddled, the flashbacks are very annoying, and it doesn't flow well at all. They try for a lot of jump scares, and even those are not effective (this is coming from someone that is ridiculously easy to make jump during horror films). Its actually shot surprisingly well, though. I guess that is something. And the setting is great, creepy. When it first started, I really wanted to like it. :(

Didn't like it in the theaters and didn't like it a second time either.I enjoyed it til about the last twenty minutes then that just ruined it for me.

I enjoyed the fact that the Coen Brothers went for a more gritty feal for a change, it has been a while since the showed the dark side they do so well, leaving the humour to be dug out...

Just tell me what was that story at the end, the dream, I drifted of into thought about people talking about their damn dreams!
