Mixed opinion. I went in to it hoping to love it, and I came out of it liking it just a tad. It's not something I'd buy on DVD, or watch again anytime soon. Not to say it's bad. There were some things that just threw me off.

I'd give it a B- / B.

i read your post, i just didn't want to quote the whole thing.

anyway, thanks for your critique. i had a friend of mine tell me pretty much all the same things you said after seeing it.

i'm going to see it this week, so i'm probably going to enter the theater with different thoughts and expectations than i was originally. we'll see.

Meet the Parents (2000)

Yeah. Like I've said before, one of my big-time guilty pleasures.

While the film contains a satisfying amount of gore (most of it occurring in a montage, and the ending scenes...), some people might be thrown off at how animated the blood looks. I'm pretty sure some of the blood (if not all of it) was CGI. It's a very fake, fake, fake red. As if they were using a red fingerpaint. It doesn't look real, at all.

I think this had a LOT less to do with it being CGI and a big budget film than it did with being a Tim Burton film. The almost cartoon-like visuals really fit his style and to be honest, knowing his films, I didn't expect gritty realism. Anyway, I loved the movie personally, thought it was better than any previous incarnation of the story.

Balls of Fury - 3/10
Barely funny. A few chuckles here and there, but that's it.
