I'm in Dublin for a couple of days, I did 9 pints of Guiness last night, then the funds ran out. But I'm cashed up again and will get a few more in before my flight.

Fookin' Hell  Every pint is like eating a meal, how the hell can you stomach so much? I can only drink one, maybe two, but I dont like the taste that builds up so have to stop. |

When I was in Dublin I was lucky enough to have a couple pints of the black stuff in a pub just a mile or so from St. James' Gate. |
Yeah, got a couple more in tonight before the flight. I'm feeling pretty bloated, everything I ate in the last two days was some type of sandwich or roll or pizza, so much bread.... That combined with the guinness.
The Guinness tasted so good though I would have had a few more if I had the time. |
Had a nice little beer tasting with some friends this evening.
First off, we tried Brooklyn Local 2, a great Belgian-style strong dark ale. Lots of plumb and honey notes coming through, and very smooth. http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3630/...c0a03f7b7b.jpg After that we tried the Guinness 250th Anniversary Stout. And were thoroughly disappointed. It kind of tasted like somebody spilled water in regular Guinness. Oh well. |

Had another beer tasting with some friends today.
Unibroue's Trois Pistoles- an excellent dark Belgian ale http://www.artofdrink.com/img/trois-pistoles.jpg Samuel Smith's Oatmeal Stout- for a stout, it's fairly light. Overall, very nice. http://media.rd.com/rd/images/rdc/sl...l-stout-ss.jpg and Sprecher Black Bavarian- a wonderful, smooth dark lager http://www.appellationbeer.com/image...6-sprecher.jpg |
Went to a beer tasting in the city today; we sampled a few brews from Rogue out of Oregon:
Mom Hefeweizen Chipotle Ale Dead Guy Ale Double Dead Guy Ale Imperial India Pale Ale All of them were great, except the Chipotle Ale. I picked up their Rogue Chocolate Stout, an Old Rasputin Russian Imperial Stout, and a Sinebrychoff Porter. |
Got in to some of this last night:

@Return (and Fortunato) With the La Fin Du Monde, do you notice a taste difference in the shape of the glass you are drinking it from? I usually drink it in a rounded goblet like glass. Since we are moving and still unpacking, I had in a regular pint glass the other night. Now, i hadn't had it in awhile, but it just didn't taste the same and wasn't as good as I remember. |

I gotta say...the summer brews are my least favorite seasonal...maybe its the fruity flavors.....I do enjoy a couple of these though....now and again.

aha !!! This is NOT tomato juice !
it's clamato juice. almost everything gives me heartburn these days - but i can handle the ceasar just fine :) |

CLAMATO ? Sounds like an STD |
i will not deny - it sounds gross - but you mix it with come tobasco and worcestershire sauce ... maybe some horseradish ... vodka and celery salt ...
and trust me - you'll never drink anything else |
It's a heatwave here in Scotland, it must have reached 24 dgc today, I had to get a bottle of white whine from spain on my way home..... It's somthing I only drink in the summer.

So now that I'm 19 and don't have to bother sneaking around...you can expect to see way more of me in this thread.
Kicked off my birthday evening with one of these - figured I go for some foreign stuff first: http://farm1.static.flickr.com/179/4...d5bd23e6_o.jpg Then moved onto these for the rest of the night: http://onthehip.files.wordpress.com/..._blue_beer.jpg |
How was that Coopers?
|
i thought it was mandatory to drink lasplatts or molsons in CANADA!
|
That's what the blue label is....
|
i just thought they couldn't drink anything else. isn't it also true they can only eat back bacon and donuts??
|
No, they can also eat poutine.
|
well - if they want to eat poutine then as long as it is two consenting adults i'm cool with that

I'm not well versed enough on my beer yet to properly analyze or review it...but it was far tastier than the Labatt Blue (which I also enjoyed). |

Few of these last evening...few too many, probably. I can literally see their brewery from my bedroom window, so I figured it was about time to try some. Not bad at all. |
Got a couple of beers I hadn't tried before last night...
http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_-IWR4kiJ4q...0/IMG_2259.jpg quite a solid ale, nothing outstanding but it goes down very smooth... The other one I can remember, I ended up pretty pissed.... from the bottles of white wine we drank later. Got a free case of some Californian wine echo Falls, not great, but drank cold enough it's fine. |
