Sorry to see him leave this world. Was just watching his work (co-writer/actor) in Ghostbusters the last couple days. He wrote/directed one of the best and loving films in history in Groundhog Day.

I agree. Just read an interview with him yesterday, where he was advocating for Scotland's separation from England.

Everything I've read says he's alive and I'm seeing nothing saying he's dead.

He killed him with his bare hands

cheebacheeba 03-14-2014 09:02 PM

Actually, that's almost right.

I killed him, with my bear hands.
It's a serious condition, folks. Try to control it, but then it's like nope, bear hands time, RAWR KILL CONNERY.
All the time.
All, the damn time.

No, you're thinking of Sean Connery.

Seems it was a case of cardiac issues bought on by years of overexertion and testicular rupture.

Just read on Facebook that Bob Hoskins (Who Framed Roger Rabbit?) has died from pneumonia at 71.

cheebacheeba 04-30-2014 07:38 AM

I read that it was actually a report that had him confused with Phil Collins.

RIP "Alien" artist H.R. Giger.

Quote:

Swiss artist H.R. Giger, who designed the creature in Ridley Scott's sci-fi horror classic "Alien," has died at age 74 from injuries suffered in a fall, his museum said Tuesday.

Sandra Mivelaz, administrator of the H.R. Giger museum in Gruyeres, western Switzerland, told The Associated Press that Giger died in a hospital on Monday.

Giger's works, often showing macabre scenes of humans and machines fused into hellish hybrids, influenced a generation of movie directors and inspired an enduring fashion for "biomechanical" tattoos.

"My paintings seem to make the strongest impression on people who are, well, who are crazy," Giger said in a 1979 interview with Starlog magazine. "If they like my work they are creative ... or they are crazy."

Man, Giger was a big inspiration to me. Don't know if you've ever seen his stuff in person (or in a over-sized picture book) but the detail in his pieces is staggering.

I know I'll miss him. ::sad::

_____V_____ 05-13-2014 05:35 AM

A really, really sad day in the history of the genre.

R.I.P. Mr. Giger. Thank you for everything Alien, and much, much more.

neverending 05-13-2014 08:30 AM

He influenced an entire generation of both science fiction and horror with his work. A true giant.

ferretchucker 05-13-2014 10:08 AM

Absolute tragedy, he created an entirely unique and beautiful aesthetic that will hopefully live on. His own mind may have frightened him, but I wish it could have lived on to give us more.

Comedy legend Rik Mayall dies age 56.

Sad news. The man really was one of a kind.

Rik Mayall probably best known for his very unusual character Rick in the BBC comedy The Young Ones, which he co-created/wrote. Also played Lord Flashheart in the Blackadder.

He also started in the film Drop Dead Fred.
