was that dude in the wheel chair having a wank?

What did you think of the remake? (The Uninvited); to me they turned it into just another predictable thriller, totally missing the point of what 'A Tale of Two Sisters' is all about; a study on mental illness fuelled by guilt and sorrow.

I have not seen a movie in the past ten years that was scary. The only movie that scared me was childsplay 2, but I was a child myself back then.

I'm waiting for a new original horror film that may never come for quite some time. Getting sick of this remake phase. The last film I saw from this decade that I thought was actually sweet was probably The Descent. It's all about thrill now a days, and loud ass music to make you jump. :/ Any recommendations?

i think my mom is the scary movie that i ever seen : []

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake with Jessica Biel was about the only movie that's really gotten under my skin in about the last 10+ years. Had me on the edge of my seat through most of it.

There's a scene in True ROmance where James Gandolfini beats the hell out of Patricia Arquette. He's about to kill her, and he starts talking about the first time you kill someone, how traumatic it is. Whether you're Wyatt Earp or Jack the RIpper, the first one always fucks you up. But then it becomes same ole, same ole. The same is true with horror movies. The first couple you see freak you out, but you become immune to it. I'm not saying you can't realize a scary scene, but it won't truely terrify you.

The movie creepers from 1985 I think with the guy who played dr loomis in original Halloween the end boy scene is good

I think that's all you can hope for these days, a spine tingler. As adults we'll never be affected in the same way as were, watching The Exorcist at 13 years old. The only way to be unsettled by cinema these days, is through extreme cinema. And fuck that! I tried watching AUM and turned it off after 15 mins, and I believe there is much worse on the market. |
I havent been truly scared by a film in ages. Grossed out, and maybe a bit troubled by some, but not actually frightened. Guess I'm too jaded lol
|
If you have been watching horror movies for a long time. Then there Is probably not to many horrors that can scare you. You could try films such as august underground mordum or cannibal holocaust though they are more disturbing than scary. Plus im only 15 and have seen 605 horror films so far, so im not to much of an expert yet :(

The Exorcist definitely goes down as my number one most frightening movie. There are scenes from that film that make my hair stand up, literally. The Ring is a close second. That was the first and only time since childhood that I kept the lights on for as long as I could before going to sleep. I habitually fall asleep with the TV on and for a solid week I left the TV in my bedroom unplugged.
The Blair Witch Project got me good but I know the majority of people don't get it. While growing up, my family and I would go camping quite often in the woods of New England. The sounds you hear in that film are the standard sounds of the night. After seeing that, those sounds are never the same again. Last, but not least, is the original Halloween, one of my top five all-time horror flicks. It's not "frightening", per se, but more creepy. The methodical movements and gestures of Michael Myers were something that always stuck with me. |
I'm know I'm jaded so I don't know that there are any "scary" movies. However, there are "Jump" scenes in lots of movies that get me although a lot of times it's the loud jump in volume that helps contribute to that.
When I was 8 years old "Jaws" was pretty scary but it was also realistic, you could easily be eaten by a shark. Being chased by a guy in a hockey mask and a machete who can't be killed was pretty unlikely though. There are other movies I find "Creepy". I saw the movie "Witchboard" as a kid and I just watched it again for the 1st time in probably 20 years and it has a pretty creepy atmosphere to it. "The Exorcist" had a creepy atmosphere. There was a movie that came out a few years back called "Darkness" and I thought that had a pretty creepy atmosphere too. You don't know what's in the dark...it's fear of the unknown. There isn't really anything in Cinema though as an adult that scares me. No movie gives me nightmares. Only things that happen to me in real life can have that kind of effect on me. |

The older you get the harder it is to get scared. I find myself mainly going to the movies if im looking for a good jump. watching horror movies from home just doesnt do it for me anymore. Although i must admit the last movie that i saw that gave me quite a few chills and jumps was Insidious.

Yeah, The Descent is great. Really does a phenomenal job of building and maintaining extreme tension.
