You're Irish characters 'Luck' power could be used in many ways. Correctly guess safe lock combinations, alarm codes, internet passwords etc etc.

How about four-leaf clover style throwing stars which can double up as bookmarks?

ferretchucker 03-20-2009 07:56 AM

Bwind, how about a vehicle for your guy. He seems like the type to have one. Some badass mega enforced thing to make the tumbler batmobile look pussy.

Sure, he can have a vehicle.

Vehicle: Bullet proof van, tinted glass, loaded with weapons and ammo and a Harley Davidson chopper style motorcycle that he keeps loaded in the rear for when he needs to get in to those hard to reach places or be a little conspicuous.

Haystack could make you an armored van and custom chopper.

massacre man 03-22-2009 05:46 AM

Yeah, anybody who would like to make one of those for their character and/or provide a backstory is more than welcome.

Doc Faustus 03-22-2009 08:40 AM

Some backstory: Continued Later

At the age of five, a lonely Eric Westward, son of the city's answer to Charles Foster Kane was playing outside alone, pretending to be the hero of his favorite movie, Captain Blood. As he battled imaginary pirates into the street, he didn't notice the car barreling down on him until almost too late. "Don't!" he screamed out to nothing in particular, and it didn't. The car stopped cold right in front of him. There was a buzzing in his head and a strange subconscious impression that felt like something was saying "okay." He wanted to dismiss it as nothing, but the incidents kept occurring. Whenever he got angry, the air conditioner in the house increased the temperature, when sad, it began to decrease it. But even as fantasy prone a child as Eric was, he didn't want to believe it. He didn't want to be a freak that talked to cars and air conditioners, he wanted to be something great, he wanted to be like Errol Flynn or Douglas Fairbanks or the other stars from the old swashbuckling movies he liked so much. But, destiny, as it often does, pulled Eric in a different direction. Eric's mother saw that the boy was distraught about something and told her neglectful husband to take the boy somewhere. Mr. Westward reluctantly agreed, taking his son on a trip to Italy aboard his private jet. But, in spite of his Mr. Westward's good intentions, he had a difficult time dealing with his son, who bothered his father with persistent questions and desperate bids for affection. Mr. Westward didn't know how to deal with it. He yelled, told the boy to "read one of your goddamn books and let me enjoy the flight." Eric was crushed and hurt, his mood plummeted from elated at getting to see his father to miserable. As he grew sadder and angrier, the plane heard him and became unstable. It went down, but a lucky Eric survived, picked up by monks at an Italian monastery.

ferretchucker 03-22-2009 09:31 AM

Cool backstory. I'm liking it! A lot.

massacre man 03-22-2009 11:10 AM

Alright, I figure I'll add a backstory to mine and encourage everyone else to do so if they want to. I'm tweeking some details in my original description.

Wayne Lucas was born in a rural community to a very patriotic family. His father died of a heart attack shortly after he was born. His brother was killed in Iraq when Wayne was 16. His mother went into depression and was deemed unfit to take care of Wayne who was moved into the city with his bachelor uncle for the next 2 years.

He had taken a liking to a girl he went to school with him although he had never spoken to her. One day he found her in an alley being mugged, he tried to protect her but was stabbed in the side and had to watch the mugger carve her face beyond repair.

After he had recovered he lost all will to live and enlisted in a military experimentation program, figuring if he was going to die he could at least do it trying to help his country, he wasn't aloud to go into battle due to his depression. Through the experiments he was given super speed, he was sent home and signed a contract stating he wouldn't reveal the details or existence of the experiments to anyone.

Upon returning home he got a job as a clerk at a comic shop and moved out of his uncle's into his own apartment. One night on his way home he saw another mugging taking place, being reminded of the girl he'd watched he stopped it by knocking the mugger out in one punch without being seen. He felt better about himself having saved a life and continued to do so.

ChronoGrl 03-22-2009 04:08 PM

Civilian Name*: Amanda Blank

Hero Alias*: Fera

Status (Good, Bad, Civilian)*: Reluctantly Good, but has her own interests in mind. She pursues her own agenda, but will provide her services to other superheroes or organizations that she deems "good"... For a fee.

Abilities*: Fera is a mechanical genius, using her knowledge of gears, machinery, and engineering to create all means of robotics, specifically of the animal variety (from mechanical lifelike flying beetles with miniature video cameras and audio recorders to pigeons to seemingly feral cats). To some extent, she can also communicate and command actual animals, though it's not clear that this ability is a true super-human ability, or actually in her head and symptom of insanity. Her chosen weapon is a set of miniature poison darts laced with organic homegrown poisons harvested from various reptiles and amphibians. Her darts are colored per type of poison. Yellow is a tranquilizer that puts the target to sleep. Blue is a truth serum. Green is a paralyzer that keeps her victim awake, but in a state of paralysis. Red is poisonous and causes death.

Personality: Amanda/Fera is stiff, obsessive compulsive, methodical, practical, and painstakingly beautiful. She is brutally honest, gruff, and incredibly sardonic to those whom she sees as intellectual inferiors. Her dayjob is in a Cancer research laboratory that performs experiments on animals. Her morals are questionable. While she loves animals, she sees the experiments as being for the greater good. Also, her job gives her access to animals, both dead and alive that she might either control with her mind (if alive) or perform her own mechanical experiments on (if dead). Her personal agenda: Personal wealth. She uses her animals to gain access to the PINs and security codes of the insanely rich in order to rob them blind to subsidize her own obsessive experimentation. She is also obsessed with collecting all matter of bones and skeletons, fossils, and uses her wealth to collect rare specimens to study (from dinosaurs to mammals). To satiate these crimes, she donates just as obsessively to lower-income education, and animal advocacy programs. She also periodically frees animals from her research facility that are facing horrible fates.

Costume: Labcoat, corset, riding pants, knee-high boots, and goggles

Doc Faustus 03-23-2009 07:30 AM

My backstory, continued:
Grateful to be away from the hum of machinery and upset over the crash, Eric decided to stay. The monks were nice and books were plentiful and he felt good there. For ten years he studied with them, sought answers to ethical questions and purged some of his personal demons. The monks were amazed a child so young had so many concerns, had such interest in ethics and was so devoted to self improvement. Finally, he had the courage to return to America. The flight home was the real test. Could he fly without his curse killing everyone? With the newfound calm gained from years of solitude, contemplation and prayer, he made it home without incident and his mother was happy to have him back. When enrolled in private school, he excelled in all subjects. He also came to terms with the fact that his powers were a gift from God. In college, he took to engineering, while his leisure time was spent emulating his childhood idols: he learned to fence. After he finished school, his mother passed on and he was forced to take over his father's publishing concern. While he had always loved to read, he had not approved of his father's malicious, "anything to sell papers and magazines" attitude. He was once more unsure, until he realized that he could do good with the word. He took over the business, encouraging journalism with a more liberal, humanitarian stance, exposing slumlords, corrupt politicians and all manner of indecencies. His publishing empire was devoted to doing good. But, it wasn't enough. So much corruption went unpunished, so many villains still walked the streets. At the monastery and as a publisher alike, he had learned the power of icons and the need for something to have faith in. Faith would empower people, make them better, encourage them to stand up to corruption. He decided to take his fencing skills and style himself a vigilante. He took to the streets dressed in a foppish swashbuckler outfit, and was more or less beaten to a bloody pulp. Then, he decided to combine his powers with his love of fencing and designed a gadget infused variation on his costume, which soon had local crime bosses cowering. He secretly channeled more of his resources into robotics, which allowed him to create a robotic duplicate that he could connect with via his technopathic powers. There would be no telltale scars, no chance of being unmasked and a perfect alibi. He has since created fifteen different Volpones and a number of inventions. By alternating between engaging in crimefighting himself and sending out his robots, he is able to maintain a nigh perfect alibi.

If we're allowed to suggest more I have another one. There don't seem to be many civillians.

Name: Alan Leczuz

Hero Alias: AL

Status: Civillian (Good)

"Abilities": Knows a lot of information.

Personality: Respects and helps the heroes as best he can. He's a kind, social guy who knows more than he lets on. He has a wife and children.

Role and Backstory: Alan Lucas is a pretty high up guy in the pentagon. He's worked there for sixteen years. One day, whilst wandering through the city where this is set, he nearly crushed by a falling fire escape ladder. Luckily, he was pushed away by Gore the Red, who promptly left. Astounded and greatful, he went back to work and tried to get some kind of funding or help for the superheroes. Unfortunately, the government did not agree with aiding vigilantes and it only drew more attention to catching the vigilante superheroes.
So, Lucas kept quiet for a while, trying to forget it. But his guilt for harming the hero's cause was overwhelming and so he used his position in the Pentagon to aid them, finding out any suspiscious information and sending it to whatever hero he can. However, the amount he can help is limited due to the watchful eye of the government. He has no idea who the heroes really are, and vice versa. He taps into security cameras, digs up files etc.
Costume: Just a simple brown suit.

I'm having difficulties with Heromachine, but basically, imagine a red cyberpunk Zorro with a full fox mask.

Something like this? I couldn't get a hat on him as well as the fox mask though.

Also, for all you using the hero machine, the code doesn't work for some reason so I just took a screenshot and copied it into paint, then cropped it in photobucket.
