Dear ______V_______

I have been depended upon to help out in family matters for a very long time..
ranging from helping the elderly to properly file applications through to helping my neices and nephews stay out of jail..helping a family member who was almost on the verge of losing her children to child welfare services..lending money that never gets returned..the list goes on ..as well as work
however..recently..I put my foot down and said ''NO MORE'' .

Em exhausted..what do you recomend as a way of getting my Oomph back??
My energy levels are so low and I can't sleep at nights cos em worried about them all.

monalisa 12-05-2008 10:24 PM

Dear V,

Your home page in your profile is http://horrordotcom.freeforums.org/. What's the story behind that?

neverending 12-05-2008 10:29 PM

I can answer that- there was a time when there was some weirdness with HDC- it kept going down and disappearing for periods of time. A lot of the members wanted a backup plan in case the site ever did disappear for good.

So V started a forum in case that does happen. Drop on by and sign up!

Thanks neverending! I was wondering for a while, but afraid to ask. And I doubt V would want me to sign up. He doesn't seem to like me. But thank you for the invite.

neverending 12-05-2008 10:37 PM

I don't think you'd be denied membership. But, to each their own.

Phalanx 12-05-2008 10:48 PM

So you're saying I would be denied then? Hmmm???

Hey V, howcum whenever I see a bird feather fallin' outta the sky, I look up, and never see a bird?

There's a big difference between not being denied membership and being welcomed.

neverending 12-05-2008 10:56 PM

It's a place for all HDC- I'd welcome you there.

I thought this was the place for all HDC.

Phalanx 12-05-2008 11:26 PM

He don't welcome me here, either...:(

ferretchucker 12-06-2008 03:53 AM

This is a thread to ask V questions, not complain about him.

Phalanx 12-06-2008 04:24 AM

I'm not complaining...about V

Not to worry ferret. I did ask V a question. Neverending answered it, we had a small conversation and cheebs made a comment. No big deal. A lot worse happens on a lot of other threads.

You are doing a great job by backing your family up, Stubbs. But I would ask you to cease doing one thing out of all those listed above - lending money out to relatives. More often than not they end up being complete assholes and that never ever comes back.

There's no better way to get replenished and refreshed than a nice, long vacation. I would suggest a place pretty scenic and quiet, and a good couple weeks. Does wonders to recharge the batteries and when you return back, you are as good as new, and ready to hit the world again.

Thats the link to the HDC "bomb shelter" forum, which was created in case horror pulls the plug off the forums at anytime. It is a place for all those HDC members who would want to keep in touch if/when any such thing happens, and is open to all people in HDC.

No member of HDC will be denied entry into the bomb shelter. It is for HDC, as the mono says.

Thats because birds rarely hang around after they are done shaking their tailfeathers. One shake, one oomph and swish...they are off. All thats left of their shaking "caboose" is a single feather...which slowly falls towards the ground.

As mentioned in my first answer- it was created in case of a HDC meltdown- or did you forget that part so quickly?

Don't kill me either.

I didn't forget anything. I just questioned it. My question has been answered by both you and V. Both of you have said all HDC members would be welcome. Enough said. Drop it please.

Dear V,

The guy that I work for is nice to everyone's face (although not overly friendly) but he sends out these scathing emails when something is done incorrectly, although never really tells us what we should be doing, and obviously there's some confusion or we wouldn't be doing it incorrectly. He also just gave everyone their reviews (I'm a contractor, so I didn't have to get one from him) and he basically made everyone feel like shit about themselves.

Do you think he's actually a nice guy, just doesn't know how to communicate well, especially in the written word? Or do you think he's probably really an asshole and is only nice to our faces cuz he's afraid to show his true colors face to face?

Edit: I guess I should add that I must be doing something right, cuz they keep extending my contract. It's just really hard to work for a person like that.

Obviously the guy's a perfectionist, but lacking in proper management skills. In order to get the best out of the team, the leader has to keep his "door open", so to speak...so that communication is to and fro between the team leader and the team members, and also to show the team members that they are accessible to the leader whenever they need him.

Of course he must be under a lot of pressure himself to maintain deadlines and costs, so careful planning must be his priority most of the time. If those arent met, he is liable to blow his top...overt pressure and continuous tension can do that, even to the most level-headed of men.

I have a hunch he is a nice guy, but working under some strain and to meet pre-planned and announced schedules. Look at him as a person who is working under "someone else's thumb", and you might change your views about him.

Dear V,

As a fellow mate in the world of huge corporations, I think you could provide some insight for me. I know how to play the corporate game, or I would have never moved up and survived like I've done. I counsel a lot of my employees on the difference between losing who you are and keeping a roof over your head. Do you think there's a finely drawn line between being able to conform to your job without losing yourself and becoming a tool?

You have no way of knowing that unless you got a pair of microscopes as eyes. And I hate snow - makes my bones ache with the chill.

Corporate honchos can tie you around their fingers and puppetise you as much as they can, once they get the whiff that you are willing to conform for stepping higher in the managerial ladder. You have to be very careful in treading between the fine lines of conforming to their interests and standards as well as maintaining your dignity and say in several matters. Remember, the more higher you go, the more exposure you will get. One piece of advice - always be willing to put forth your opinions on certain matters, once you get a step up. They may not like it, but that way you can ensure to show them that you have an opinion independent from them, too.

No chance. You are stuck with an overzealous and excited teenager who is going to make your days and nights hellish from now on. My suggestion - move to a safer location...till Guitar Hero gets outdated, or she gets bored with it.

Dear V,

She dropped me like a hot potato before giving me a chance to reply back to all the misunderstandings my message conveyed. Either my English is very poor, or the age-old notion is true - communication in words only, results in giving and leaving wrong impressions, especially over the Net.

"And that's what we get and deserve in the end.
Around the corner, a vanished friend."

Um, you're writing a Dear V post to yourself, that's not a good sign. Is everything OK? I'm asking because I honestly care, so please don't blast me for asking. You've been there for us through this thread, let us be there for you if you need it.

Dear __V__,

For some reason, people lie to me and think I'm none the wiser about it. Some sincerity would be nice. But I can't help but wonder if it's I who inspire the blatant lying and dishonesty about their intentions, or if they're just so insecure and desperate for attention, that they need the facade in order to be accepted. Should I be understanding? How can I tell what's real and what's not?

XOXO,

Confused in Calais

Dear V
I have this crush on a male member who just required a position of power in the forum and I think he's really hot and fantasize all kinds of sick sexual stuff late at night while alone.....

LOL
JK:D
but....actually, where are all my kisses??:( Why don't I get any kisses goddammit?

For real:
Did you know half the stuff you said happened in your country was not even broadcast over here?
They really downsized how big it was on the regular news channels. I was listening to a first person account get cut off mid-sentence when he was trying to explain what was happening in front of him!
My soon to be ex said it was because India feared what the news would do to their stock market...

Crazy shit.

Is any of this connected to Greece or the recent subway bombings in Asia??

Anyone who lies to you is/will be never sincere about their intentions in any sort of relationship you have with em - whether it be friendship, love, blood relations etc. Dont blame yourself for anything. Its in a person's nature to be what he/she is, and in today's world, hypocrisy, fakers and liars run rampant. I have seen more than one example of that in my life myself, and I can tell you, you are better off staying away from someone who constantly lies to you about anything and everything, even if that turns out to be your hubby or your bf. No question of being understanding there.

Unfortunately, being a human has its disadvantages. You can never tell a person's nature by the first impressions they convey. Many a time, a meany would actually turn out to be a good person, while a real sympathiser would turn out to be a wolf in disguise. The best you can do - trust the other person to not fuck up the relation you started with him/her, because you will be honest from your side. And IF that actually happens, give them one chance to explain themselves. If they cant, or they do it again, move on.

It applies the same to your relations over the Net, or your real life.

That will always be the case with realpolitik as long as we have governments who are more concerned about saving their economic asses than portray the real picture. The stock market has always been going through its ups and downs, regardless of the Mumbai situation. In fact, before this incident of terrorism, the stock market has been crashing for the past six months to losing well over 12000 points!

I think it has more to do with "picking up the pieces", more than anything. None of it is connected to Greece. If the subway bombings were done by the ISI-trained LeT terrorists, then thats the connection US Intelligence and Indian counterparts have made. Ergo the warnings US has issued to Pakistan to clamp down on terrorism and co-operate with India in the anti-terrorist drive. However, Pakistan has refused some demands from India (like handing over the top guns of LeT, and Dawood Ibrahim) so the tensions between the two countries stands escalated right now. The US has been issuing plenty of warnings to Pakistan, but looks like they are not heeding it. I fear the next step if this continues...a war.
