I'm surprised no one has mentioned Michale Graves. He did a great job in Misfits and I really like his newer stuff. Lots of so called "vocalists" of today fail in comparison to Grave's haunting voice. Of course, most of those vocalists are rap artists, which don't need any talent to begin with....
|
Graves was one of the final nails in the Misfits coffin. The modern incarnations of the Misfits have been totally weak.
Rap artists don't need talent huh? I'd beg to differ on that. |
Pimps, money, ho's and bling. If you can make a song that includes any, or all of these themes, then you've got yourself a rap song. The only talent needed is to dumb yourself down so you can appeal to the other masses of idiots. Sorry man, but rap music is on it's way out. Even changing the name of the genre from RAP to HIP- HOP didn't seem to make that type of music sound any better. Sorry for the rant, but as you can tell, I hate anything rap.
|
A bunch of the generic shit does suck but there's some really decent stuff inbetween it all. I'm not huge on Hip Hop but there's a bunch thats totally fuckin' killer. But yeh if you hate it you hate it.... kinda like me with all the Drum n' Bass/Dance music.
|
I hate RnB music.
There.... it's out. |

I thought Graves was awesome. Live he sucked and didn't have the energy and fire of Danzig but The two Albums Graves did were very good. They defined what the misfits were. Ghoulish horror imagery with catchy songs with fusion of hard rock and oldie's style choruses. Of course the REAL misfits will be the original line-up. A big thank you to Danzig, Growing up I thought the closest I would get to horror style music was the metal alot of you guys listen to. Danzig is still the only guy that I felt sincerely was legit about horror. Just the sound and lyrics as compraed to metal or goth I never heard anything like it. They were fun and they just rocked. Misfits, Samhain, Danzig, Had great music alot of people don't appreciate(but their fave bands were influenced by danzig). |

Gary LeVox (I have been a huge Rascal Flatts fan for like 9 years now) annnnnd Jeff Tweedy (of Wilco) are my personal picks.
|
Well, thinking mainly of technique... And considering I'm a metal fan...
Zak Stevens Jörn Lande Dio Bruce Dickinson Russel Allen Roy Khan Andre Mattos Mats Leven Fabio Lione Thomas Vikström |
I'm gonna have to go with Mike Patton as well, most definately. Fantomas - The Director's Cut, own it, love it. Movie buffs should seek out this album
|
I like Layne Staley he was great but best I wanna say more like "Rob Halford" or so.. And as for that Ripper Owens gets no credit at all being he can do all Rob ever could and then some.
|
Yeap, that sucks... I guess some metal fans can be way more conservative than they'd like to admit... And so, even if Owens is a great vocalist, most just don't dare to say that he can kick some seeeeerious ass just... Just because, you know?

Most of the opinions in this thread are shitty.
just realized it was best MALE vocalist and had to start over. David Bowie Chris Isaak (I feel bad for his band, the silvertones? whatever... ridiculously good voice) Little Richard Mike Patton Frank Sinatra Jeff Buckley they are more or less in order. |

Pfffffth!!! YOU suck. Jeff Buckley can't even sing straight on his records. |
1: Bruce Dickinson

Nick Cave
Roky Erickson |
Peter Steele deserves a mention!
|
Ummm
Eduardo Falaschi |
My 5 favourite singers would be:
-Raine Maida -Myles Kennedy -Dave Grohl -Chad Grey -David Draiman |
for pure power - i'd say Freddie Mercury and Meat Loaf (yes he's cheezy but the boy has some pipes!)
for me - i'm a huge fan of Bon Scott - those early AC/DC records (esp. Powerage) had such great rock/blues tracks |
Powerage is the best thing AC/DC put out. Kicked in the Teeth is such a dope tune.
|
Roky Erickson deserves another mention... powerful raw voice
|
Been listening to some of Our Lady Peace's older stuff lately - Raine Maida's vocals are fantastic. Love that paranoid edge he has...great stuff.
Shame their new single is so awful...haven't listened to the whole album yet, but "All You Did Was Save My Life" is just generic and boring, didn't even realize it was OLP the first time I heard it. Really too bad. |
Muddy Waters
|
Dave Gahan
Matthew Bellamy and Layne Staley are my favorites. |
