Blackhawk down is another one that i think is epic. Excellent acting by an amazing cast; they did a great job of showing the scale of the incident. Also shows how damn good americans are at making sure we follow the philosophy that Gen. George Patton coined:

Don't die for your country. Make the other son of a bitch die for his.

Alexander Nevsky. Battle on the frozen lake still is awesome.

I forgot about that one. One of my all time favorite horror movie endings.

Goood call.

Surprised this hasnt been mentioned yet: pretty much every battle in 300. Hell, it isnt as emotially impacting as Platoon (or as relevant), but 300 is one big epic.

The explosives scene in the Dark Knight. Holy fucking intense. If you are tired of hearing about it, then quit reading the posts. TDK was a fucking amazing movie, and Heath Ledger will live on forever as the Joker.

Christ, even if he was still alive, he would be remembered forever as the Joker.

I think a scene that will always be remembered is the Sweet Transvestite song from RHPS.

Brilliant response...

Give FC some credit, he's got some pretty sophisticated tastes, for the most part for a kid his age. Not to mention it IS a big scene, and targeted toward the teenage demographic.

Are you going to tell me that in high school you only watched the highest caliber of film abd BEVER liked anything but the best?

Bullshit. This is an opinion thread, so dont shit on other people's simply because you either dont agree or you woke up on the wrong side of the bed.

For the record, if you had posted "I think It the equivalent of smearing shit on your TV screen" i would nto have said a thing. Opinions are like assholes, everyone has one, and most people dont want to hear it :)

Yes. In MY opinion I did :) I had broader taste than dull blockbuster shit like that.

You must've got quite worked up by my comment and were mashing the fuck outta your keyboard. The spelling in your post was EPIC :D

Whether or not you like it I don't see how a film like pirates of the Caribbean can be called dull. A little predictable, a lot of wannabe one liners but it's full of action and good CG monsters (aside from the giant woman).

Plus, Pirates of the Caribbean is a bit of an epic.

The scope is definitely epic.

POTC #1 was a good film - especially considering the source.

and i do love the scene - the 1st appearance of Depp on the sinking boat - stepping off onto the dock hust as the boat went under ..

pretty sweet scene (and the music was great)

Despare 09-15-2008 12:39 PM

The scene in The Princess Bride where Westley (as The Dread Pirate Roberts) is chasing Buttercup and has to battle Inigo Montoya, Fezzik, and Vizzini.

Just not my thing mate. I always find those types of flicks a bit overblown, overlong and don't really get engaged with the story. I'm more into my trashy "b-movie" kinda stuff which a lot of people can't stand :)

My comment earlier wasn't a personal attack either so I hope you don't think that bro. It was another case of Elvis vs Hollywood haha :)

ferretchucker 09-16-2008 08:30 AM

Don't worry, I didn't take it personally. Just felt I should justify my reasoning.

That was such a terrible joke but I defy anybody for whom it didn't crack a smile.

I did. a little one, but I did.

A, so far, overlooke dscene that is still as amazing now as the day it was first shown: the marine stand off at the end of Aliens. Gets my adrenaline flowing every time i see it.

ferretchucker 09-17-2008 09:20 AM

Dunno if anybody said it and some may not agree that it's epic, but it's definetely iconic.

Opening scene of JAWS.
