Yeah you are right. I forgot about that.

Papillon Noir 04-21-2008 11:52 AM

Requiem for a Dream - best movie ever about addiction!

Despare 04-21-2008 11:55 AM

Requiem was alright but IMO not as good as people tout it to be. It certainly didn't revolutionize a genre the way Night of the Living Dead did and to be honest, I like Pi better. NotLD for me.

Round 1 Match 5

Quite simply put, THE most amazing movie ever made...my absolute all-time favorite by my 2nd favorite director...

http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/...RL._SS500_.jpg

Rashomon (1950)
Director - Akira Kurosawa

vs.

The milestone in sci-fi horror, never bettered, even after numerous remakes...

Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1956)
Director - Don Siegel

Despare 04-21-2008 12:18 PM

Rashomon without hesitation.

Four, by a mile.

Kane_Hodder 04-21-2008 01:05 PM

Rashomon for me.
I really liked this film.

ferretchucker 04-21-2008 01:06 PM

never seen rashomon and, though I enjoyed body snatchers, I'm not a big fan, so judging but how enthusiastic you all are, I'll say rashomon.

_____V_____ 04-21-2008 01:16 PM

6-0, Rashomon advances by a surprise shutout over Invasion.

(not that I thought differently, but the shutout surprised me alright)

Round 1 Match 6

Hooper's raw, brutal & unflinching look at unabashed and shocking reality...

http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/...PL._SS500_.jpg

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974)
Director - Tobe Hooper

vs.

Arguably, DeNiro & Scorcese's power-packed hardhitter of a movie...

http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/...ML._SS500_.jpg

Raging Bull (1980)
Director - Martin Scorcese

Posher778 04-21-2008 01:24 PM

Raging Bull because TCM is a shitty movie :)

Papillon Noir 04-21-2008 01:34 PM

TCM. Other than the opening credits, Raging Bull just didn't do it for me.

Despare 04-21-2008 01:39 PM

Raging Bull for me

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre

Raging Bull

I love both films but I'm gonna vote for Raging Bull. It's a MASTERPIECE- and DeNiro, one of the greatest living actors, was at the top of his form here.

jenna26 04-21-2008 06:38 PM

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre

Raging Bull

alkytrio666 04-21-2008 08:30 PM

Oh, most definately Raging Bull. I mean, if we're going for sheer quality, come on.

fortunato 04-21-2008 09:36 PM

^ agreed.

raging bull.

_____V_____ 04-21-2008 09:54 PM

8-7, TCM edges out Raging Bull.

Round 1 Match 7

An epic, a breathtaking journey...and a ground-breaker...

http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/...wL._SS500_.jpg

Metropolis (1927)
Director - Fritz Lang

vs.

Arguably, the best horror-comedy to have come out in recent times...

http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/...hL._SS500_.jpg

Shaun of the Dead (2004)
Director - Edgar Wright

Shaun of the Dead

alkytrio666 04-21-2008 10:26 PM

Metropolis, definately.

Bub the Zombie 04-21-2008 10:47 PM

Metropolis

Despare 04-21-2008 11:14 PM

Shaun of the Dead

This is another realy tough match for me, I think what swayed me toward Shaun was the fact that Lang has done more than one film that I like better than Metropolis.

The_Raven 04-21-2008 11:24 PM

Metropolis. Fritz Lang's masterpiece.

Kane_Hodder 04-21-2008 11:31 PM

I saw Metropolis on HBO the other day and was considerably impressed.
It's unbelievable that they made this way back in 1927.
For being so far ahead of it's time, it gets my vote.

_____V_____ 04-21-2008 11:48 PM

5-3, Metropolis silently marches ahead of Shaun.
