Thanks, Gore. Be sure to claim your blurbs too, just in case.

I now officially have 3 complete lists and 2 part lists. The compilation into Excel worksheets will start later today by me.

Those who are working on their lists...please note that you must turn them in by Feb 10th. In case someone needs a bit more time to work and re-edit their selections may stretch it to the next day, but I hope to get all your lists by then. Dont forget to add your choices for the blurbs.

btw, those who have already turned in their lists but have mentioned less than 5 recommendations under each sub-genre, can take a bit more time and think up of good ones to fill those vacant slots. You can IM me or email me with those again, no worries. I will include those.

fortunato 01-31-2008 12:39 PM

just a quick question:

should we list any giallos under the slasher sub-genre? i mean, they're not really like the traditional "slasher" in the sense that halloween, friday the 13th, etc. are, but they fit the criteria you've listed and they don't fit into any other section.

My roomate's wondering why I'm spending so much time on a geeky horror e-mail, haha.

Despare 01-31-2008 06:16 PM

I'll have to set aside some time for this one, maybe tomorrow when we get another big snowstorm.

Yes you may. A giallo is essentially a whodunnit combined with slasher elements, with a...what you call it...Italian flavor - long murder sequence, jaw-dropping music in the background and some very chic cinematography. (Rod would be the expert here...I am just summing up):p

Its a good excuse to be at home.;)

2 more comprehensive lists have arrived, and that makes a total of 5 official lists of recommendations. The Blurbs are also being booked thick and fast, so book your favorite movie's blurb as quickly as you can.

neverending 01-31-2008 08:28 PM

How can we book movie blurbs before we know what's ending up on the list?

Based on your recommendations. If they make it into the final 100, the blurb is yours.;)

newb 02-01-2008 05:17 AM

I'll be adding more later.....I want to give it the time it deserves.;)

Kane_Hodder 02-01-2008 07:08 AM

I hope some of my suggestions get picked. This is going to be a great top 100.

crabapple 02-01-2008 07:19 AM

Oh, yes, I like it! Like it very much. I'll try to put something together this evening in terms of votes. Very nice categories from everyone!

Some of em are almost sure of a Top 5 spot. I suggest you book some blurbs too, Kane...you forgot to add any.

Woohoo...fm approves! This is an achievement in itself. I cannot wait to see your recommendations!:D

crabapple 02-01-2008 12:23 PM

Oh, effing A I like it yes. If you have to have subcategories, it's better to have too many than too few. Then people can discuss which movie belongs in what category.

Did anyone suggest docu-fiction or docu-style or docu-drama? There are some good Bigfoot movies that are scary and I always find Bigfoot movies to be a neglected breed.

Nope. Although they can be mentioned under Creature Monsters sub-genre.

I must say some of you are list-writing demons. I have 6 comprehensive lists right now and the compilation will take a while, thats for sure. Although there are clear winners emerging in some categories, others might take some more time...seems like we will be having a Honorable Mentions in each sub-genre after all.

Keep your thinking caps on, folks...and keep sending me those lists!

Aha...well, you see, Newb has probably never seen Creature from Black Lake, probably the best Bigfoot movie ever made.

I received 2 more lists with plenty of excellent recommendations. You guys know how to differentiate your horror, thats for sure. HDC has got some of the finest critics of the genre.

I hope we have plenty of lists by the allotted time. Looking for more and more people to be involved in this. Come on folks, lets see your lists too!

Kane_Hodder 02-03-2008 09:25 PM

After the deadline, which is Sunday, February 10, 2008.

GorePhobia 02-04-2008 06:28 AM

I tried to split them up for a list but it was super hard. I will continue to try but I don't know if I will be able to come up with a solid list.

Marya Zaleska 02-04-2008 11:09 AM

The Countess here!

I would like to recommend a new sub category:

Mad Doctors and Scientists

I have some recommendations but they don't seem to fit in the other categories!

You can fit em into the Human Monsters sub-genre, Marya.

Depending on the movie, it can go under Weird Pulp or Psychological too.

That's my favorite part about this 100, the discussions that can evolve about the classification of movies. I don't want to give any examples (so as not to influence) but I think this top 100 is more subjective than any before it. "That's a good thing."

DONE!

...

I think.

...

Oh, and please ignore my extra-bitchy PM... Chrono is currently suffering from excrutiating and inexplicable joint and muscle pain in the neck and spinal region... I should really talk to people AFTER taking the vicadin for the evening.
