halloween 3 is a good movie, not great but definatly underated. The song in this movie is so cachy

alicefan 02-03-2007 03:13 PM

i thought part 3 was alright, but i definitely like all the other Halloween films better, it had no Michael so it wasn't as good as all the others

Yeh people forget that. I like this flick a lot... nowhere near as bad as H20 or Resurrection. Tom Atkins is pretty cool he's the only thing I dug about the My Bloody Valentine remake.

crazy raplh 01-24-2010 07:43 AM

its the best one in the series

fortunato 01-24-2010 03:48 PM

Yeah, I always really enjoyed this one, too.
Really goofy and lots of fun. I think because it was labeled a Halloween movie, people judged it differently than they otherwise would.
Got to see it on the big screen a few years back. Such a blast with people laughing and singing along to the commercial jingle:

Ok I did not like this film. Not cause of lack of Michael Myers (thats didnt bother me cause this movie was as you said what Carpenter intended) I just found it to be overall boring and not interesting at all. This is just my opinion.

infernalhale 01-25-2010 10:45 AM

I too get a lot of flack for liking this movie. I'm not a huge fan of any others in the series, so this one was a pretty big deal for me when I first saw it. Excellent story-line, well executed plot & overall cool as hell! Catchy song too, I might add.

I say this a lot and I'm going to say it again: Franchise horror is a ridiculous sacred cow. Even Universal's 30s non Franchise horror was better. I sort of like the Halloweens with Donald Pleasence in them because of Donald Pleasence, but other than that, what do they really do?

Doc Faustus 01-26-2010 12:57 PM

Six is good as a lesson on how not to write. Six films into a series they pull backstory out of their ass? Any attempt to explain The Shape takes it out of Lovecraft country, which is where it belongs. The point of Halloween: evil is out there. We can't hide behind moral relativism or suburban comfort. A small boy can become Something Else and that thing can rain down shit on your humdrum little life. Imposing some lazy druid story on it is the worst thing that you can do.

Doc Faustus 01-26-2010 01:13 PM

If it weren't so sloppy and tacked on, it might have worked. They could have done some cool gialloish stuff.

mlauzon 01-27-2010 09:15 AM

Come on, I love cheesy '80s movies, having been born in the mid-'70s, but this movie was shit; I know that Carpenter wanted the movie to go a different direction than the first 2 movies from what I understand, but this one bombed badly for a reason..

HarryCanyon 01-27-2010 01:51 PM

I love this one, well i didn't like it at first because of no Myers. Then later when i realized by doing research on Halloween 3 on it's concept i loved it. Michael died in Halloween 2 as John Carpenter intended because he had enough of him and wanted his story to be over so that Laurie can live happily ever after.

He came up with a concept to turn the franchise into a Crepshow and Twilight Zone like anthology of different Halloween themed horror movies ever year sort of like "SAW" but it failed at the box-office and confused audiences due to them not telling them the idea behind it.

Doctor Loomis 01-29-2010 05:11 PM

i personally hate this movie the most out of all the halloween movies. it has absolutely NOTHING to do with the others in the series, and is horrible all around (acting, story, dialogue, etc)

Doc Faustus 01-31-2010 12:48 PM

I'm cool with this persona. More levelheaded, not as inclined to start shit. I feel less morally ambiguous about trying to stand up for this dude. Takes me from aggressive almost hippieish neutrality in favor of someone who crosses the line but is nonetheless kinda cool minus the antagonistic streak to the verge of moral highground. I"m going to conduct myself as if you didn't say what I thought you said. May I humbly suggest you be a better fake dude and do the same?

Laura6 02-02-2010 08:02 AM

I really like this movie...I thought about Why? I don't know but I always have!

My bad. I thought you and beyond were one and the same in spite of different demeanors and he was rescinding his claim of leaving on post 666 to restart from where you were. In my defense, I was on a caffeine cleanse at the time because some dude in Wanted had joked about trying an energy drink cleanse and I thought maybe it would be a good idea. It was about as good an idea as adapting an awesome graphic novel about a young man born into a cabal of supervillains into a shitty movie about generic assassins with a magic loom. I apologize for being jumpy, cryptic and preachy. And recommend nobody just drink Monster, Pepsi Max and Shockwave laced Mountain Dew on an empty stomach for an entire day.

Doc Faustus 02-03-2010 05:48 AM

That's because Al Gore was busy making Halloween 3.

You need to do some research there, the Internet started as ARPAnet back in the '60s, long before H3 ever came out!

ScaryLadiesMan 02-03-2010 10:52 AM

This is a very good film

That's irony. Like how I use the ARPAnet to pick up teenage girls. Old medium, young ladies. Irony.
