I'm not pleased with their choice for Gambit. They've been promising Gambit for the last 2 movies, and now I finally get to see one of my favourite x-men on screen and it's not at all what I imagined. I'll wait to see his acting, and hear his accent (better have a damn accent) before I judge any further.

The Gambit guy looks ok, if not a little young for the role...I suppose it's an origin thing though.
Not sure how they'll tie it in. I think Liev Schreiber is a great choice (victor creed, right?), he's bigger than Jackman and just looks...creepy enough...will probably have had to bulk up since last time I saw him though, a big guy he is, but not sabertooth big. Guys gotta be able to smack wolverine around a bit, that's his thing. The psycho looking factor will work. I don't like Reynolds...although Smokin' Aces showed he can act when called upon. Playing deadpool isn't that bad a choice, I mean who better to play the character that cant "turn it off"? At least I won't have to SEE him much. |

Women love him...look what they did to Venom? If Topher Grace doesn't get to cover his face, there's no chance in hell Reynolds will be covered up. |
Yeah, but past the "origin" event, I doubt we'll be seeing too much of his face...

I didnt like Reynolds at first - but i have to admit he's grown on me. i went from hating Blade 3 because of him - to thinking he's the only good thing about Blade 3. My kid is playing an xbox360 game - some kind of marvel allience thing ... and he keeps saying Deadpool is funny - always saying funny stuff (like a smart ass) sounds like Reynolds to me .. and the guy has a very athletic physique. personally i have no idea who Deadpool is ... i stopped with the comics before he came into being. |
Deadpool - Another memory impaired former mercenary/weapon x project (like wolverine), signed up 'cos he was dying of some kind've cancer or another, they ended up curing him, training him, giving him the ability to heal (maybe not quite as fast as wolverine, bit more skilled in weapons) but due to the fact his cellular structure is now constantly in flux, his "skin" basically looks fucked, hence the mask.
Started out as a kind've mislead villain in an x-men spinoff called x-force although I'm not sure if that was his first appearance...kind've gradually turned over a new leaf probably on account of being obsessed with one of the xf girls, and went from "bad guy" to "sometimes thorn in the side" to "neutral guy/freelance mercenary". Oh, and he's fucked in the head, literally, didn't quite mentally get through the weapon x thing... |
I wasn't too psyched about Taylor Kitsch as Gambit either... until I saw the first picture. He looks perfect. I'm cringing about the accent though. It's an accent the even the most skilled actors get wrong most of the time, so we'll just have to see.
Was psyched about Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool as well (I must be the only person who actually likes the guy). He's got the body, the stupid humor and wisecracks that just never let up, the body, and even though he's a pretty boy, the question is moot, since, as cheeba pointed out, in the comics, Deadpool's face is horrifically scarred and all fucked up. I'm crossing my fingers the movie won't be though. |

Blech... Topher Grace as Venom was a horrible choice from the get-go. Getting this scrawny kid to play the butch Eddie Brock (which in all fairness, we do see a bit of in the comics), was just a sacrilege. |

The ONLY way they could not be hated for using Reynolds actual face on a "more than first few minutes" basis, would be with the addition of the frequently-used-by-DP image inducer.
That said, I still don't think Reynolds will be seen as self that much. His self-image/self-hatred is a huge part of the character, it would be shallow to not have it happen... |
Although he famously sat out directing X-Men: The Last Stand in favor of helming Superman Returns, Bryan Singer now says he's open to the idea of returning to the mutant movie franchise he spawned.
The Coventry Telegraph points out an interview that Singer did with Total Film where he addressed his departure from the X-Men franchise and his eagerness to rejoin it. "I'm eternally intertwined with X-Men now. What takes an audience four hours to watch -- the first two movies -- took six years of my life. So, to not be part of it... It's a shame," said Singer. One X-Men project in-development that Singer says he would "possibly" consider directing is the Magneto prequel. "The only thing that concerns me about Magneto is that if the prequel were to follow the track I used in X-Men, which is Magneto's history in the concentration camp, then I've lived in that world," Singer explained. But he added, "Apt Pupil, X-Men and now Valkyrie... I've lived in that Nazi universe for quite a while. I just might need to take a little break before I do something like that." |
The Dark Knight scribe David Goyer has given a quick update on the status of the Magneto origin movie to MTV News.
"They're still thinking of doing it," he explained. "They're definitely looking into doing other X-Men spinoffs." Indeed Goyer seemed confident the project would see progress in the near future. "I've been in touch [with the studio]. I'm sure that project will move forward in the next year or so." There's been buzz around this movie for years, with a concentration camp-set plot rumoured, along with the possible involvement of X-Men director Bryan Singer. Other mutant movies currently in the works include a sequel to X-Men Origins: Wolverine, X-Men: First Class, and a Deadpool spin-off. |
If you're holding your breath for that much talked about Magneto prequel ... well, don't.
In an interview with Empire Online, X-Men series producer Lauren Shuler Donner said, after praising David Goyer's screenplay for Magneto, "I'm not sure that film is going to be made. The studio has a wealth of potential stories, and they have to stand back and decide which ones to make. And Magneto, I think, is at the back of the queue. Maybe it'll get made in five years - who knows?" The producer did confirm that if and when Magneto does before cameras it will star someone other than Ian McKellen in the title role. Shuler Donner said the de-aging visual effects used on McKellen for X-Men: The Last Stand are too cost prohibitive to be done for an entire film. McKellen may appear as the elder Magneto in a few scenes, but she said another actor will be cast to play his younger incarnation. |
They should revolve all x-men movies around the greatest x-man of all time..Night crawler. Also just a Q? how come it isn't called x-people. In this day of p.c.

Yeah, so that young Magneto movie that David Goyer was supposedly working on? It's dead.
Not that this news comes as any great surprise to anyone who has even sorta been following the development of Fox's X-Men franchise lately. Aside from the complete and utter lack of forward momentum on the project in recent months, word came last week that Bryan Singer was returning to the franchise he started to direct X-Men: First Class, an origin/prequel tale about Marvel's band of merry mutants. The thing is, part of that story is to involve the young Magneto and his relationship with the young Professor Xavier. That seemed to be the nail in the Magneto solo-film coffin, and now Singer has pretty much confirmed as much. "This story would probably utilize some of the Magneto story because it deals with a young Magneto, so it might supersede that because this would explore that relationship between a young energetic professor and a disenfranchised victim of the Holocaust," the director tells The Hollywood Reporter. "But no, I don't see an exhaustion [of the franchise]. The X-Men universe is boundless. These are great characters. And as young characters, they are quite different than the characters we have seen in the contemporary movies." Singer also says that in all likelihood his other project, Jack the Giant Killer, will go into production before First Class. |
Does anyone else think there gonna make an Xmen 4 (not origins) because at the end of the 3 Magneto gained his powers again so I think there gonna make another movie!! :)
