Does it drive you nuts when people say, "expresso?" I'm always correcting people, but then, I can be a real cunt.:D

Did you guys know that espresso is not as powerful as coffee due to the fact that it's ground so fine. Learned that from Emril.:D My dad watches that show every night.

Oh yeah: I LOVE COFFEE HAIL SATAN HIGHPRIEST WISE

I almost forgot about that.

I need a cup of coffee.....maybe I'll try and sleep instead-LMAO.

What is the most requested flavor and type at your shop?

RoLLiNLiGhTs 09-06-2005 07:37 PM

*Opens a cold brew, takes a sip, looks around...Hmmm, guess the bar's further up the street...*;) :p

filmmaker2 09-06-2005 07:37 PM

A couple of days ago I had some Kona--real Kona! Hadn't had any in like years. But this place down the street, they had some! (The bastards!) So I had them make me a cup, and it was goooooooood. I mean really good. The smell of Kona coffee is so distinct--it has a butter-like, toasty, chocolatey aroma.

I like friendly coffee-making people too. It makes me want to tip 'em.

novakru 09-07-2005 04:51 AM

I want this KONA you're talking about.
I want it like I used to want sports cars.

filmmaker2 09-07-2005 07:54 AM

It is available, just do a wee search. Make sure it is 100% though...ohhhh it's gooooood.

Zombee 09-07-2005 11:51 AM

Im not a huge fan of coffee either unless it is the sweet fru fru shit. I do love the smell though. My parents are big coffee afficionados and they mail order Kona all the time. They also really like this coffee from the Dominican.

ChEEbA 09-07-2005 12:07 PM

Yes, yes there is.
It's actually against the law. You're probably gonna go to prison.

novakru 09-07-2005 03:52 PM

mmmmm

Marroe 09-07-2005 04:36 PM

this morning I had some fresh ground BLACK cofee at work. which I rarely drink it black, so I figure this is the only reason I'm still awake:D

Right now some franch vanilla cafe instant stuff...you gotta use about half the can for any kinda taste, but after that, it aint bad!

filmmaker2 09-07-2005 04:52 PM

Oh, you mean that stuff that is mostly sugar with a bit of non dairy creamer and maybe some coffee mixed in, if they feel like it.

Yeah! That stuff...ya know, it's actually really good if you use it AS a creamer...

novakru 09-07-2005 04:57 PM

I was out of coffee one day(GASP,WHEEZE,GULP)
and I had that stuff....but the good thing was-I got a sugar buzz.
I was so GROUCHY that day.

novakru 09-07-2005 04:58 PM

oh and yeah,it is a great flavoring for black coffee.

novakru 10-20-2005 06:21 AM

ok,so,not a big fan of chocolate-but apparently will eat it when around.
We have bags and bags of 'fun size' chocolate bars.
And I have been putting a couple in my coffee.

3 musketeers
butterfinger
kitkat
&reese's peanut butter cups
are very very good melted into your coffee.

I guess since I started-I HAVE to try ALL the little fun size flavors....you know, out of research and stuff.

filmmaker2 10-20-2005 06:31 AM

Man! That is weird! But not THAT weird. I would do it. In fact I may go down to the store...it is about time to get those Fun Bars for me to eat...I mean, for the trick or treaters to eat.

A friend of mine used to do a thing called "jam coffee"--he would go to a diner with his buddies and they would mix different flavors of jam into their coffee. Strawberry was most popular. I tried it once and called them all crazy.

novakru 10-20-2005 06:37 AM

I didn't put all the different brands in at the same time..... each brand name went in seperately.
I have a 12 cup coffee pot to get thru...I have ooodles of test cups to savor...I mean Investigate....Scientifically.

and Jam?
*shudder*

ShankS 10-20-2005 06:38 AM

Caffeine or Cocaine?

Quote:

Caffeine also increases dopamine levels in the same way that amphetamines do (heroine and cocaine also manipulate dopamine levels by slowing down the rate of dopamine re-uptake). Dopamine is a neurotransmitter that, in certain parts of the brain, activates the pleasure center. Obviously, caffeine's effect is much lower than heroin's, but it is the same mechanism. It is suspected that the dopamine connection contributes to caffeine addiction.

filmmaker2 10-20-2005 07:25 AM

Dude, whoa, slow down there, why do you...why did you have to spoil it like that. We were just talking about having a nice cup of coffee. Well, eleven or twelve of them. But that's beside the point! What an UGLY picture that is. What is that picture of, anyway?

I drink a shit load of coffee at work cos some of my lab colleagues and proffessors bore the tits off me.

I always say i'd be a total mess if is wasn't for coffee and beer. One upper, one downer.

filmmaker2 10-20-2005 10:37 AM

You! You spoiled the thread with your evil lies

There is no caffeine in coffee, never was

And caffeine was not NAMED after coffee

Coffee has nothing to do with caffeine!!!!!!!!!!!!

You are wrong

Wrong wrong wrong

PS

filmmaker2 10-26-2005 09:25 AM

Okay hon, it's time to put your money where your mouth is...here's five cups of coffee. One two three four five, all right there. Now make with the, um, naughty bits, shall we say.

Now what is this about a coffee hike? What coffee hike? Do I have to stock up on coffee now too?

stubbornforgey 10-26-2005 10:36 AM

Oh Stubborn-you are a keeper!

filmmaker2 10-26-2005 12:37 PM

I will go down the street to coffee, I mean, to the store, and I will buy several things of coffee there and hoard them, so there. Then I will feed some fruit to my rat Pootie (he likes it) and that will make him a fruit poot.

stubbornforgey 10-27-2005 09:31 AM

mmm

I walked into one of the Robert Harrises cafe branches in town and asked them to make my coffee 'like so'..
Now what ever happened to that old cliche'..customers are always right..blah blah..LOL...sheesh..the chick behind the counter gave me such a look..she couldve been the new leading actress in any given
freak show.
I was like 'FINE..FINE''..I will just go home and make my own then!!

ChEEbA 10-27-2005 10:08 AM

I had a friend that used to do the same thing with his instant at work...really meticulously stirring for at least 2-3 minutes, claiming it improved the flavour. After observing this about twenty times, I said "yknow what's even better? REAL coffee. You're drinking nescafe, you idiot...it doesn't really GET that much better".
The lesson is, of course - if you want your INSTANT to taste better, get better instant.
I have an espresso machine, but I know there's instant out there that doesn't require special preparation methods to taste great, I buy it...and look at the cauldron stirrers, rightfully so, like they're nuts;)

stubbornforgey 10-27-2005 12:59 PM

well well

on the naughty mat with you my freind..!!lol.
Preparing it that way somehow enriches the flavour..i have converted a few non believers.
NUTS...NUTS..

filmmaker2 10-29-2005 08:15 AM

I never made my coffee like that....but, I do have a cousin who, the last time I saw her make coffee for herself, did something perhaps similar...she poured out a glass of milk, then put a good teaspoon of instant coffee into the milk. That was it, just coffee and whole milk.

And she would then stir and stir and stir and stir and stir and stir, and eventually the milk would attain that lovely golden yellow brown kind of tint to it.

It was the weirdest thing..."Why's she doing it like that?" I asked, and someone said "That's the way she makes it" and I thought Hmmm, well okay.

But I tried it later and you know, it's really a very nice way to take your coffee. Ice-cold and decidedly creamy (considering there's no water in it besides the water that's in the milk).
