That's a very VERY funny line. "Maple syrup powered conspiracy." Jeez! How do you think of great stuff like that.

I think we should give Urge a prize, like, maybe, 15 free movies of his choice.

Oh yeah, just what he needs - more movies!:D

filmmaker2 08-16-2005 04:23 AM

Well, sure. And ya know what? With as many as he has, just mentioning something like that will have him hungering for MORE. He will soon be visiting the local reasonably-priced video shop and looking for a stack of bargains to take home.

Then he will rationalize the purchase in his mind by deciding that he "needed" them because his other videos were "old."

Then he will sell his heirloom jewelry on Ebay so he can get more movies, and he will rationalize THAT by deciding that "Well, we never wear that stuff anyway, and what good's a diamond, anyway? You can't eat it" etc.

I KNOW that's what would happen because...........it takes one to know one ;)

OMG, that sounds just like him!! I can picture it now......

filmmaker2 08-16-2005 08:25 AM

Oh yeah, I know totally how he is, because I'm that way too. We know you're reading this, Urge, by the way, and that's why I feel I have to mention that my video-sucking vampire media whore friend stopped by to watch some movies, and AGAIN they tried to borrow one. And I've TOLD this person, time and time again, that my video shelf is not a freaking lending library! So I was like, "Uh, you don't need to borrow that...we should just watch it...yeah, let's watch it, right now..." So I put the damn thing in the video player to satisfy this person's, uh, urge. And then I left the disc in the machine when the movie was over, as a kind of a signal that "the god damn disc is staying HERE, don't you UNDERSTAND yet?????" This has been like the tenth time I've tried to get the message across in various ways.

I mean nowadays, gas is so expensive that if you lend a disc out to someone, then someone has to spend six dollars to drive somewhere to get it back, and they might just as well buy their own.

What do you think, Urge? Peas in a pod, yes?

Agreed. I still haven't gotten my "Final Destination 2" back from my ex-cokehead friend.

New rule: Any drug higher than weed prohibits you from borrowing ANYthing.

yep, we DVD collectors, need to lay down the rules. I collect for pleasure... not disspleasure when I have to hunt down my DVDs, like a bounty hunter.

filmmaker2 08-16-2005 09:20 AM

Oh and you should see the collection the video-sucking media vampire whore has, too. Easily five times as many movies as I have.

Now that i think about it, it's kinda funny. He still needs MORE! He's a raving movie maniac!!

newb 08-16-2005 10:04 AM

I only have a select few i would trust with my babys. And they know if they have one too long......they can

Go to his house, knock on the door, when it opens barge your way in without waiting for a greeting or welcome smile, make head-way for his DVD shelves, then stand browsing all the sleves with one hand rubbing your chin and the other on your hip, whilst making "hmmm" and "ahhh" noises, like a weird guy down the library. Ignore any conversation with the guy, and don't be disturbed buy his groans of concern. Then pick at least 10 DVDs off of the shelves and place them one by one in a pile on a table.... then walk out of the video-sucking media vampire whore's house, whith the chosen DVDs under your arm, without acknowledging his curious complaints and head straight for home.

That will get the message across, that you aint no Library establishment.

ItsAlive75 08-16-2005 10:27 AM

Or just walk in and randomly start pullin' dvd's off the shelf, opening em' and tossing the dvds on the ground.

Then when he asks what the fuck is wrong with you, you turn around and punch him right in the face like, 7 times.

That's whacko!

But yeah...he DOES in fact go over to the shelf and stand there saying "hmmmm!" and "ahhhh!" and acting totally vulture-like...you can hear him thinking "What can I take away from here? I don't have to pay for even renting these...hmmmm...yeahhhh..." He looks like a mosquito getting all ready to do some juice-sucking.

it's weird...it's like he didn't hear what I said the last ten times...

In the big picture of things, this is a very small problem, and we should be thankful that we can consider this an annoyance. The more I think about it, the more I think it's kind of funny. We're a bunch of video maniacs, and this fellow really has it bad!

urgeok 08-16-2005 01:52 PM

i hate lending movies - HATE it !

i used to a long time ago when it was tapes and you'd always get these assholes that wouldnt return them .. their friends would borror them or lose them..

once i had 3 rare movies on a beta tape returned .. with 4.5 hours of soaps taped over top.

so i said fuck it - no more.

the ultimate insult are the guys who look at you like you're crazy for having all the movies .. go at you for spending - wasting - all that money ... then ask if they can borrow them ..

'go fuck yourself' is the only reasonable reply to that

That's true, I'm sure most people wouldn't even think twice about it.

But of course, there's something wrong with all of us. That's why we're here.:D

filmmaker2 08-16-2005 01:59 PM

Point taken. We are all a little....whacky.

But I own HOUSE OF THE DEAD because I wanna watch it whenever I feel like it...it makes me feel good to think, "Hey! I can watch HOUSE OF THE DEAD right NOW if I want! I don't have to watch it...but knowing that I can, is, AWWWWWESOME."

ItsAlive75 08-16-2005 02:00 PM

Just knowing that Zombi 5: Killing Birds is sitting on my media rack makes me all tingly.

MoonLit Meadow 08-16-2005 03:10 PM

I don't lend out movies to anyone either...I'm insanely particular about keeping my dvd's in good condition...the disks, the cases...what have you ;)

It annoys the hell out of me when I rent a dvd and I see scratches/fingerprints all over the disk...I just don't understand what's so hard about picking up a disk and putting it into the player. Why do people feel the need to put their grubby hands all over them? ;)

Haphazard 08-16-2005 03:24 PM

URGE!

Congrats, bro!! You rock my pants.

I'll tell ya what...if I ever wanna bow out of this board for good, I will settle for nothing less than a ban from the urge-man!
