I get where urge is coming from. You can watch one episode of C.S.I. and 5 people can get shot, but Janet Jackson flashes a tit and all hell breaks loose.

There is a simple answer to it: it is a horror movie. And it seems that that ususally happens in slasher movies. The victim of a killer doing completly idiotic things and making him/her so vunerable to attack is there also not to bore the auidence...i mean, think about it logically, must killers in movies are pretty stupid - though there are some exceptions - and it would be very boring if the victim was out smarting the killer all the time.

BUT...If Janet Jackson got shot at the superbowl, people would freak out about THAT even more...CSI is NOT real.....No one gets shot...No one bleeds...No one dies...

then lets get back to the origional topic .. horror movies.
people get stabbed mutilated decapitated ..etc ..

i dont care if its real or not ... its still not the message i want my kid getting from a movie.

i was reluctant to let him see jurassic park - but i did because he loves dinosaurs.
but - i fast forward through the violence (which means i have to sit there and watch it every goddamn time)

if there was nudity - i couldnt care less ..
he sees us coming and going from the shower .. he runs around naked in the house ... its not a big deal to him ..

i dont want him seeing sex because he's too young to understand it even if explained properly.

but nudity - big deal ..
if we didnt make such a childish big deal out of it - the world would be a better place for it

And that's the way you feel about it, there's nothing wrong with that...But, we see our bodies as 'special', 'sacred', and a gift to share with the right person...That's the complete opposite of being ashamed, or uncomfortable about our bodies...

And my kids don't really take messages from movies...they are intelligent enough to see it for what it is...And they honestly spend MOST of their time critiquing the quality of the special effects, and making suggestions about how THEY could have 'done it better'...It's ALL fake to them...No nightmares, no induction of homicidal tendencies, no confusion...Nada...

well intimate contact with your bodies .. sure i can understand that being special ..

what do you think of people who wear bathing suits ?

i know you think cleavage is ok ... so does it come down to the actual nipple that is sacred ?

this is impossible for me to understand

Well, that's a good question because it CAN be a matter of opinion...The Amish consider bare legs to be nudity, and some Muslims consider bare ankles to be nudity...For us, I suppose it's pretty much whatever is covered by a bikini...Just like, cleavage wouldn't be considered porn, but nipples and genitals would be...It's actually a pretty common consensus...

Oh wait!...I just had an idea...How about if you and your wife go out in public, and she shows a little cleavage, and you go totally naked?...See which one of you gets arrested...Then maybe someone else can explain it to you better than I can...lol

What it comes down to is that America was started by Puritans, people so anal that 15th Century English people thought they were tight-asses.

a lot of that mentality has trickled down through the generations. I lived in europe a third of my life, so i dont really see nudity as a big deal either, but Bree is from Missouri originally and has some very strong opinions about it.

Understanding it wont really help, it is more of an emotional thing than anything. You see, Canada doesnt have a bible belt, we do. And I'm not saying you have to be religious to feel that nudity is inappropriate. Americans as a country are more predisposed to think nudity is unnecesary and/or bad. it's a product of being from this country. Hell, i remember German shampoo commercials with bare tits, during primetime (and we didnt even have cable). Europe and many other countries just dont consider it a big deal.

Trainspotting and 28 Days Later both have bare penis, which is almost unheard of in America. Dicks are dirty (well, many of them are....)

It comes down to mentality and use. if the audience doesnt like nudity, then any is inappropriate. If it is just there to sell tickets, i tend to think it is lame. pLus, they never had any women i was interested in naked anyway :p

The police would have to actually be able to see his penis.

what's lame - the nudity or the people it draws ?

again .. paying money for the chance to see a pair of naked breasts .. is that a reflection on the filmmakers or society ?

I think with me it usually comes down to this:

The actres sherself. IF she shows her tits tio get attention to help her carreer, fine (shannon elizabeth did it, and is cool with it)

Its the shee rnumber who do it repeadtedly, then whine that all they are is a pair of tits.

To be honest, im pretty apathetic about the whole thing. i get to see all the tits i want at home. Daily.

:)

there are places in the middle east where the women cover their hair but their breasts are barely concealed - because breasts are for feeding babies and hair is considered sensual.

WE make things dirty..us - we do.
the human body is no big deal - we all have one ..
but now that we've made sucha big deal about it - we have a million problems that go along with it ..

oh lord you have a selective memory ...
of course you dig your wife's boobs .. but there are a lot of actresses you'd be awfully happy to see unclothed ..
you've mentioned a number of them in the past ..

there's nothing wrong with that ... but dont pretend that seeing a gorgeous woman naked isnt a turn on..

and why is it - because we made the body such a secretive mysterious thing ...

i grew up in the same culture/society .. i love lovely naked women (or clothed) but my intuectual side can still see how rediculous it all is ..

Vodstok 06-03-2005 06:55 AM

i actually have a shaved ape body. ive kept it a secret for so long, it feels good to come out about it, here, today.

So where do you keep it? Do you have like a walk-in freezer or something?
