These folks aren't all exclusive to horror, but they've definately forayed close enough...not so much any of the "classics" either, just people I think "work" for the genre.

Tony Todd
Lance Henrikksen ?sp?
Liev Schreiber
Sigourney Weaver
Bill Nighy

...I think presence is what it comes down to.

Mine are pretty much the same as everyone elses- Boris, Bela, PETER LORRE, Price and Chris Lee

Madison 10-15-2006 09:47 PM

1. Lon Chaney, Sr. (Not really a Sr. considering Chaney Jr. is not actually a Jr. Real name Creighton Chaney).
2. Vincent Price
3. Peter Lorre (only mentioned twice!?!)
4. Boris Karloff
5. Bela Lugosi

neverending 10-15-2006 11:55 PM

I'm with you, Madison- Lorre is definitely underappreciated. Right from his first film- M - he showed how frightening he could be. Those eyes and that voice alone make him a horror icon. That's what sets the classic horror greats apart for me- each one had such a distinctive vocal quality- Lorre, Lugosi, Karloff, Price, Raines- they could make you shiver just listening to them.

I have an old copy of The Man Who Knew too Much (1934). The quality is crappy (I should probably get a new copy) but I still watch it because Lorre is incredible.

In no particular order:

Lon Chaney Jr
Christopher Lee
Peter Cushing
Boris Karloff
Bela Lugosi

When any of these guys are in the movie I will go out of my way to watch it.

5. Bruce, do I really have to put a last name here
4. Vincent Price
3. Peter Cushing
2. Boris Karloff
1. Bela Lugosi

Honarble mention
Claude Rains, Barbara Steele, Lon Chaney SR & JR. Robert Englund probably as well, even though its been a long time since I watched anything of his.
