A bad one: Bored, angry. Makes me want to write. A better one.

thats a good point ...
when i see a good movie it makes me want to direct movies ..
and when i see a bad one, it REALLy makes me wish i could direct a film ...

or have been on board to fix the mess i just saw ..

Vodstok 12-01-2004 06:45 AM

I would like to get the entire production crewe, plus director and writer of The Grudge, and play "Al Capone on Valentine's Day" with them.

"no, no. It was very scary....

Face the fucking wall....."

urgeok 12-01-2004 06:54 AM

i just get frustrated ..

i think .. how on earth did you think this would work ?

its like these movies are directed by people who have never seen movies before ..
they have co concept how bad their dialogue is or how miserable the performances are .. dont they review dailys anymore ?
or is the hollywood machine so full of yes men and fragile egos that no one will put their neck on the line and tell the filmmakers that they are creating shit ?

i'm not talking about back yard student films made with close friends either .. you give those guys allowances.

I'm talking specifically to the asshole that made Cold Creek Manor !!
jesus Christ !

Hey...Wait a minute, Vod...You and I NEVER agree on movies..........I think I'm gonna like it...lol:p

urgeok 12-01-2004 07:31 AM

i think it was a bad creative decision to have geller dress in the same out fit as her Daphne character from Scooby Doo

Angelakillsluts 12-01-2004 07:35 AM

..

The grudge scared the shit out of me. There wasn't much character development, and the acting kind of blew but those shock scenes really get inside my head.

urgeok 12-01-2004 07:38 AM

sooo... if we found a way to remove the top of your skull i could just take a peek inside and save the $13 ? :)

Angelakillsluts 12-01-2004 07:39 AM

Pretty much. That scene with a jawless yoko did it.

filmmaker2 12-01-2004 07:39 AM

If I can quote myself (and this is a silly thing I sometimes say, but I believe it):

"Drama is the basis of all good entertainment, and Horror is Drama amplified."

And I'll quote a friend of mine, who in turn was quoting one of his professors when he said:

"Humor and horror are two sides of the same coin. If a guy slips on a banana peel, it's funny. If he slips on a banana peel and cracks his skull open, it's horror."

urgeok 12-01-2004 07:40 AM

I'll predict right now ....

there will be a band called 'jawless yoko'

if there already isnt one..

no, its still funny :)

i bet i beat out at least 10 people who would have typed that :)

Angelakillsluts 12-01-2004 07:42 AM

It would be a cool band name. Now if only I had some musical talent... :D

seriously though .. any kids cartoon .. think of tweety and sylvester ...
if there was blood everytime someone got hurt they would be the goriest horror movies of all times ..

groning certainly recognized it and wrote Itchy and Scratchy into the simpsons .. to be realistic.

Not an origional idea mind you .. i have a really old National Lampoon with the same thing .. a tom and jerry style cartoon where the violence ends in bloody dismemberment and death... even worse than itchy and scratchy

I think Monty Python is a great example of the two genres combined. Maybe not so much horror but definitely violence and comedy i.e. the Holy Grail [ its just a flesh wound ] or the skit in the park with the tennis racket.....and many others.

great example ...

tennis anyone ..

although that was a direct sam peckinpah dig ..

same deal though ... it was funny while horrific at the same time

Well, there was this analysis done of the Looney Tunes cartoons once--to break them down and define their rules and patterns. One of the strongest rules was that the characters did not react in pain to the violent acts committed upon them. Fall off a cliff, blown up with dynamite, etc., but no scream of pain, generally speaking. They often just stand there for a second and then fall down.

But there were exceptions to this rule from time to time.

Porky Pig had a problem with a gopher once, and he tried to trap it and kill it, but never succeeded. At one point the gopher, smiling sweetly, popped up out of the ground and began strolling over to Porky in a really friendly way. Porky, being caught off-guard, watched the gopher strolling towards him, not noticing that the gopher was holding a big piece of wood behind its back. When the gopher got close enough, he HIT Porky on both his shins--WHACK! WHACK!--and then ran back to his hole really fast and disappeared.

The pain did not hit Porky for about two seconds. Then it hit him and he screamed, "EEEEEEEEE-YOW!!!!!" and crumpled to the ground in agony. I have always loved this scene.

urgeok 12-01-2004 08:23 AM

i think it depended on the type of violence ..

whenever something small was to bite someone big (a crab on the cats tail, etc) there would be a big 'YEEEEOWWWW' and the victim would jump 20 feet in the air ...

but yeah .. the 'mechanical violence' .. they either said 'mother' in a small voice and fell over .. or walked away in an accordian shape or flat like a peice of paper ... and so on

The world has become too damn P.C.

For quality entertainment you only have to get in your Delorean and set the timer back 60 years.

I don't personally like being generalised as a horror fan, there is a lot of negativity out there cast upon us due to uninformed people judging us based on their ignorance.
I know for a fact that most of you other horror fans get pissed off by this also, and think it's complete bullshit as I do.

I don't usually complain about it, as there's no point arguing with ignorance. However, many others posting here would be the first to complain about how we're stereotyped - yet many you have given the kind of answers that will only serve to perpetuate negativity.
Even if you speak in obvious jest, if those are the only answers you choose to provide - those are the only answers that will be taken into account.

As I see it, this person seems genuine AND relatively neutral in regards to our viewing habits - something that you should consider a GOOD thing, as we are being afforded more in this, than we are by the masses.
Try to understand where I'm coming from, and be a little more mature.
Be part of the solution, not the problem.

And AMK, you shouldn't be endorsing this foolish behaviour either.

It was a joke. and i'm sorry but it was funny!! Don't be so bunched up Cheeb!! I don't like being stereotyped either but sometimes you just got to say fuck it and laugh!!

i can deal with serious .. i have a problem with hypocracy

LilMissScareAll 12-01-2004 05:42 PM

Why do you watch horror movies? Cause they interest me.

When did you start watching horror movies? I watched Child's Play when I was about 5...then I probably didn't watch another one till I was 11, 12? I dunno. I can't remember.

How do you feel when you watch a horror movie? Good.

What is your favorite horror movie? I have a few. Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Strangeland, May, Halloween, Carrie, Ginger Snaps, etc...

Cheeba V2.0 12-01-2004 08:16 PM

Yes, I'm weird - to you.
Don't forget pedantic, overly analytical, psycho, too moody, a character assassin, and most importantly - I'm boring, VERY boring - you wouldn't want to leave that out.

Urgeok - My initial statement wasn't really even intended for YOU.
It's not as though I didn't realise that YOU actually made a serious reply in addition to your "other" reply. Since we're quoting, please NB:

"if those are the only answers you choose to provide - those are the only answers that will be taken into account."

I hope this makes clear what you seem to have missed, you were not really the one I was referring to in the first place.
And no, I don't want to be a mod. However better a job I think I could do is irrelevant. My main consideration is that I clearly receive enough criticism already.

If there's any other comments or ignorant statements anyone would like to make about me, or if anybody else wants to jump in on the "we hate cheeba" fun, please feel free to do so...it's not as though I've not heard it before.

I've always liked you Cheeba. So don't think just because I said you're too serious sometimes that I don't like you, because I do. I haven't seen a post in here that would merit the title of "we hate cheeba fun".
