No, because his favorite bands are perfect other than the pig slop we're fed:rolleyes:

I used to be a huge fan of Good Charlotte when their 1st cd came out. :p I don't listen to them much anymore but I definitely don't hate them, either.

Arioch 11-17-2004 09:33 AM

Its not so much i dont allow people to like what they like, im all about that....

My problem lies within the people who CANNOT stray outside the majority, will NOT support local music, and deny themselves the ability to like anything not on MTV....

And despite popular opinion their is a HUGE range of success between MTV and "Free concerts" that was spoken just like someone whose never been to a local show in her LIFE....

I will always support local and independant (that means a NON big label support band, i know youve never heard that word WL:rolleyes: ) over shit that has huge label support, even bands i like, like NIN, and others....

Im not saying its wrong to like big label bands, they got their for a reason, im saying its wrong to ONLY THINK THEY ARE THE ONLY MUSIC OUT THERE....but some of us are more sheltered than others....

And for the record, i dont own a single NIN shirt, my brother does tho *shrug*

hmmmm...I can recall only seeing Mest on MTV about four times in total
LMAO!!! WHOA only 4 times....they must have JUST started!!!

Arioch 11-17-2004 09:43 AM

And for the record, there is a SUBSTANTIAL difference in doing something different musically, and changing the genre...

Like Tool, Like Trent, Like Nirvana, shit that breaks open new streams of music, and they get huge support and fans for it....

And in contrast...

Sum 41, Dashboard Confessions, Stained, Creed, and shit that rehashes old chords and tired melodies with NO unique sound, nothing UNIQUE to offer at all, except a new pretty face and a new catchy hit song....

Some deserve recoginition, and the amount they have been around (for example tool and Trent first albums hit in 1991 and are ONLY GETTING BIGGER) versers these other bands that have NO staying power and have poped up in the last 5 years.....we will see exactly who remembers Good Charlotte for their REVOLUTIONARY NEW SOUND:rolleyes:

Arioch 11-17-2004 10:05 AM

"All you know about me is what I've sold you,
Dumb fuck
I sold out long before you ever heard my name

I sold my soul to make a record,
Dip shit,
And you bought one

All you read and
Wear or see and
Hear on TV
Is a product
Begging for your
Fatass dirty
Dollar

So...Shut up and

Buy my new record
Send more money
Fuck you, buddy"

Pretty relevant...written by one of your hugely successfull top 40 bands...

Wicked Lady 11-17-2004 11:41 AM

sooo, you assume that since people like GC/Sum41/Staind/Creed means that's all they know??? Shane likes all of those bands and then some...do you wanna know one of the bands he looks up to the most? Flaw, ever heard of them? I bet you haven't because they are a LOCAL band here in KY he almost crapped himself recently when he saw them in Guitar World after being a fan for four years...oh, speaking of bands he's been into for four years, Finger Eleven has had 4 albums in total and ONE video on MTV from their newest.

I'm not looking for a "revolutionary sound" I highly doubt anyone is anymore, I'm just looking for music I like:D

BTW...Mest has been around for about 10 years now and had at least 5 albums...so, would you still call that "just starting out?"

oh, and about that free concert comment, you of all people should know how overprotective mom is, I've never been to ANY concert:rolleyes:

She JUST turned 16...I never went to a concert when, or before I was 16, and I lived

I do what I can to keep her away from the exposure to drugged and intoxicated people...There is a potential danger there...You know what goes on at concerts...AND maybe I just read too much fucked up news...I figure that if there is one chance in a million of something bad happening to my kids, that's a chance that I'm not willing to take...You'll understand someday...I hope...

Besides...She isn't into massive crowds anyway

YOU could always go WITH her and make sure shes ok....thats how i went to my first concert at 12 or 13....*shrug* is that just out of the picture?

And concerts arent THAT bad (depending on the band) most check you for drugs and weapons and shit when you go in and are policed....the smaller clubs id say are worse....where they DONT check for such...

Thank you...You just made my point....ANY place that has to "check you for drugs and weapons and shit when you go in and are policed" is no place for my child or ME to be:)

Just my opinion...Everyone's entitled to their own

LOL arent you going to clubs every night or so you keep telling us? i bet those places are far worse without police and/or bouncers....you wouldnt take her to the places you go? Are they safe enough for you but not for her?

We actually DO have bouncers...We dance with them...lol...And there are MANY places that I can go, that a child CANNOT...I'm an adult

Nothing bad EVER happens at our clubs...We're just cool people like that...Everyone pretty much knows everyone else...And, I don't go EVERY night...Actually, I've cut down to just Monday night and Thursday night...I had to take a break *whew* :D

I gotta agree with that, I've done the "harder" drugs at small clubs with local bands, but only seen the occasional joint at the big shows.

Heresay?...NEWS is seldom considered 'heresay'...Remember a certain WHO concert?...Among others...I will admit that the MAJOR incidents may be few and far between...BUT...I figure that if there is one chance in a million of something bad happening to my kids, that's a chance that I'm not willing to take :)

Remember a certain WHO concert?.
You mean the one where the guitarist swung his guitar above his head by the guitar chord which then promptly let go and the guitar flew into the audiance? That incident?

LMAO...You can't be serious...You're just playing with me right?

THIS incident...

The Who began touring later in 1979, but the tour's momentum was crushed when 11 attendees at the group's December 3, 1979 concert at Cincinnati's Riverfront Coliseum were trampled to death in a rush for choice festival seating. The band wasn't informed of the incident until after the concert was finished, and the tragedy deflated whatever goodwill they had.

Following the Cincinnati concert, the Who slowly fell apart. Townshend became addicted to cocaine, heroin, tranquilizers and alcohol, suffering a near-fatal overdose in 1981.

There are MANY more examples of this type of incident...

Dec. 19, 1987, Nashville, Tenn.: Two teens killed in the crush of a crowd departing from a Public Enemy concert.

Jan. 18, 1991, Salt Lake City: Three teenagers killed when the crowd at an AC-DC concert rushed the stage.

Dec. 28, 1991, New York: Eight suffocated in pileup of people trying to get into City College of New York gymnasium for charity basketball game played by rappers.

July 1, 2000, Copenhagen, Denmark: Eight killed in crush of fans trying to get closer to Pearl Jam at an outdoor concert.

And the list goes on...

Along with multiple reports of fights, stabbings, rapes, etcetera...

It just isn't somewhere that I want my kids to be...That's pretty much all there is to it...So, can we end this now?:)
