Yeah, i am saving up my strength for a rant about it in the movies forum....

It could not have possiby been worse.

DaBroMain 10-13-2004 05:14 AM

A_Fucking_Greed!!!!!!!

i kept thinking to myself *it has to get better* and to my surprise it only got worse and worse and fucking worse.

Stingy Jack 10-13-2004 05:42 AM

I never saw D&D ... basically because I knew it was gonna suck. I mean, how could you not know that movie was going to dribble camel balls? The PREVIEW sucked! And when the preview sucks, you need to stay far, far away.

Vodstok 10-13-2004 06:48 AM

Misguided hope, my freind. Movies like this are why i ahve no faith.

bloody agree with you on that, how long did you see the cenobites for?? about 2 or 3 friggin minutes throughout the film. I thought comon, what sort of a film in the hellreaiser franchise was that, absolute crap. Seamed to me the producers/film company were scraping the barrel for more money.

Cold Creek Manor...I can still smell the stink on my clothes.

Tubalcain 10-13-2004 07:43 AM

and yet, if thay film it, we will watch it. thats the great thing about horror. vodstok said that movies like this is why he has no faith, and yet its these bad movies that get us through the bad times. they give us reason to hold out for a little while longer,as well as something to talkabout. we will continue to watch them untill we find one that is good, almost like the religious fanatics watch the sky, waiting for the second coming. i for one say yes, there are a lot of bad movies, but bring them on, i'll watch them all. and maybe one day, there will be a good one.

Vodstok 10-13-2004 07:46 AM

im all for bad movies, because camp has a lot of entertainment value, but the ones of which i speak lack even camp value, they are just excruciating to sit through. if they had existed back then, kubrik would have put them in clockwork orange as part of the torture.

Stingy Jack 10-13-2004 07:49 AM

I hate the bad movies. God, I hate the bad movies. Even the campy ones. But I'll agree, when I come across a good one, I am so ready for it, I'll nearly orgasm.

Ninja Moo 10-13-2004 08:42 AM

... Y'know I'm a D&D nerd also ... And I rather enjoyed the movie Dungeons and Dragons.. Of course before I saw it, I went into it knowing it wouldn't be the best movie I've ever seen, and I didn't expect too much .. It's an alright movie. It's one of those I put in for background noise when I am cleaning or online ...

I love House of a 1000 Corpses also... Love, love, love, can't get enough ..

I haven't seen the TCM remake.. too afraid... Because I love the original.. That's one of the greatest movies of all time.

As far as gore in horror.. I don't think it always needs to be there.. I enjoy a really good psycological thriller as well as gore.

Goddamn i hate that movie. I rented that like the day it came out. Killer befriends family, family is attacked, family is suspicious, killer tries getting back house, killer dies. Has this not happened before in a movie?

Get some new ideas..

Agreed.....a bad movie to me is unforgivable.....even if i downloaded it.....so much time better spent elseware.....maybe its because we are old stingy......

Vodstok 10-13-2004 09:48 AM

Phew, no kidding Arioch... been 22 for what, 48 hours now? Grim reaper is just waiting for your ass....:D

Well, "old" in this sense means "experience with refined taste." Granted, we hate the crap more than we used to ... but at least we retain the dignity of saying "I hated that fucking movie." It's only the young and the stupid who have to explain saying things like "Freddy Vs. Jason rocked!!"

Damn hate, are you serious!??

I can't see how ANYBODY could think that movie was scary or gross enough to puke

Oh well.

The only reason that it was so disappointing, was because of the genius marketing prior to the movie. I was genuinely stoked for this, and to me...it was THE biggest let-down to date.

dantehorrorfan 11-13-2004 10:05 AM

the village sucked old hairy donkey balls, the grudge, secret window, even though i havent seen it and im not seed of chucky and AVP fucking sucked AVP<------this movie sucked major.........

now dont get me wrong, i am not saying that the exorcist wasnt a great movie, but i was disappointed because....

maybe im a loser, but i had read the book a long long time ago, and it scared the hell out of me...like, terrified me.. and then when i saw the movie, i just sort of laughed. apparently, my imagination is much worse than anything that could be put into the film.

same thing happened with hannibal...loved the book, the movie was just sort of a let down... (other than ray liotta eating his own brain.)

tic 11-13-2004 12:27 PM

a little bit disappointed with Freddy vs. Jason

Jason began to turn "nice". I got no problem with that in particular, especially against Freddy-boy, but he lost some of the fear factor in him, apart from the fact (IMO) he looked different than in other films; I know it was a different actor but he just wasn't the "real" Jason.

You actually expected that to be a good movie though?

tic 11-13-2004 12:40 PM

When they changed the tiltle from Jason vs Freddy, to Freddy vs Jason I should have known.

Have to say Freddy is NOT my fav character, maybe they should have changed the title to A Nightmare On Elm Street 5 or 6, or whatever number it would have been (guest starring Jason Voorhees, in a VERY minor role)

thats the key isnt it ...
Many of the movies mentioned here didnt exactly have any promise to begin with.
The ones you knew nothing about shouldnt have held much in the way of expectations either.

House of the Dead and RE2 were 2 huge dissapointments because you knew going in they would be zombie films.

Bloodless zombie films are pointless to make and will dissapoint anyone other than someone seeing their very first horror film.

Complaining that the TCM remake was a let down is like complaining that going to the dentist caused you some discomfort.

Exactly my point. You can't be let down, unless you were built up in the first place. (errr, something like that).

People weren't puking from fright. They were getting motion sickness caused by the camera swinging everywhere.

Anyway the Village was the biggest disappointment, and the worst movie, I have seen in years.

HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHA! Good Game!

Regarding The Village: I didn't even bother to see it at all after hearing all of the bad reviews. I guess I'll check it out at some point though.

nine9 11-13-2004 01:43 PM

I'm glad I listened to Stingy and didn't go see The Village. Signs for sure for sure..........I hated it.......and Ghost Ship.....the old one about the Nazis, actually left the theatre it was so bad

Signs was weak ... i was hoping it was a blip on the turd radar but it seems to be his direction now.

I still think the Village should be seen for historical purposes ..
The end of a promising beginning - and all that.
