I love jap horror, depending on what it is. I like the Ring movies, all four of the Grudge films, and the like. Also, South Korea has been making some pretty cool (if diriviative) horror films of late like Nightmare and Phone.
|
Big Fan of Jap horror.. I have the Ring, Ring 2, and Ring 0 and Dark water and Versus.. Battle Royale is one hell of a movie too, One i still need to purchase.. I rented out Battle royale 2 last night.. Great flick but in my opinion not as good as the first..
Spirited away is a pretty slick flick for Jap animie and story... Watching Jap flicks has got me intrested in to learning Japenese so i can understand what there saying without having to go square eyed reading the subtitles... :) |
I got 'Junk' recently. It's supposedly a cross between 'Dawn of the Dead' and 'Reservoir Dogs' (or tries a little too hard to be I'd say). It was still pretty cool though. I just hate the fact I can't seem to get subtitles onto a VCD of it now like I used to do. 'Junk' and 'Passion of The Christ' are eating up way too much hard drive space (both need subtitles) and I've got a film to edit at the moment. Argh!

I am a huge fan of Japanese horror especially Versus, Junk, Ringu, Wild Zero and Bio-Zombie.

anyone else seen "a living hell".....how about "another heaven"?

Wherever Oriental movies are produced, they certainly have become hip to seek out in recent years - no doubt down to the increasingly jaded audience of lightweight American post-modern horror hokum, and the glut of new European labels dedicated to distributing them in the West. Sometimes the hilarity of poorly translated subtitles on some discs is worth the admission price alone: "Crash his penis!", "Ah, the story of the urinating Mahjong!", "You ruined our artwork! I'll tear your ass to shreds!". Lotsa fun. |

Japanese horror
OK. I'm a noob & i'm going to get bashed for this but WTF.
I can see a few of you are into jap horror, but not many posts. I've got all the RING films(which piss over the remake) Dark water, JUON, Versus, Audition, Battle royale 1+2, Evil dead Trap, The Eye, Tetsuo, What are your favourites? Have i missed any thing out? (i'm not into tortue films & hated Men behind the sun.) And does any one know where i can get KAIRO, directed by Kiyoshi Kurosawa. |

Yeah, the plot is super-complicated, and a lot of it is left up to personal interpritation.

Yes, great story. Love the scene in the "forbidden room" where the weird walking ghost lady comes towards the boy who stands paralyzed with fear. Thats creepy as hell.:) |
