Did you ever read the book? I read it first time when I was 11 and then again about 10 years later. Cried like a little bitch both times. ;_;

No, thank God. I really hate depressing stories like that; especially involving animals.

Out of curiosity, I recently watched Watership Down and was fairly surprised at how graphic it was, but I definitely enjoyed it. I've always liked how depressing older cartoon movies could be.

As far as evil dogs though, the one that always jumps to the top of my head would be Jed The Thing. A good dog that comes to mind would be Blood from A Boy and his Dog.
