I have to disagree, while Halloween may have been a much better movie than any Friday the thirteenth film to date, poor Michael Myers has certainly not stood the test of time. Sure he was scary in the original Halloween, but in progressive sequals he has lost all that edge, while Jason - along with Mr Kruegar - has managed to make the leap from being just another unstoppable killer of the eighties to being a popular icon, Michael Myers lost a piece of himself in every sequal, so that now he's just a shadow of the Shatner-masked stalker he once was.

Well, I have heard many horror experts proclaim that Halloween single-handedly created the slasher sub-genre. TCM is not a slasher film. Psycho is not a slasher film because he only kills one person in the entire movie. You gotta kill at least 3 people to qualify IMO. I know for a fact that Friday was a rip-off of Halloween. That is what ALL of the critics say.

Leatherface didnt exactly speak did he.

Who was the first slasher to consistently kill people on an important date?
Jason doesnt always kill people on a certain date

What film came out first?
Texas Chainsaw Massacre came out before Halloween and so did Psycho.

So according to your logic characters with similarities are clones of each other.
Leatherface had a mask , same as Michael.
Norman Bates used the same type of knife as Michael.
Would that make Michael, a Norman Bates and Leatherface copy?

You write, everyone copies off the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre and it went on from there. Michael Myers in a wannabe of leatherface. ;)

You know, I would just love to know what you're idea of a good horror movie is. You hate the original Exorcist, now you're bashing Halloween. Basically, that's the same thing as saying that you hate the entire horror genre, because that is how important both of those films were.

He wasnt a Gein rip off he was inspired by Ed Gein, thats why only certain aspects of Norman and Ed Gein are the same/similar.

SFF most people say TCM was the main start of the slasher genre which it was, its just that Halloween has so many film that are based off and inspired from such Friday the 13th was inspired by Halloween but its not a copy.

Both TCM and Halloween are equally important to the genre. They both provided great new elements to the genre, although id dare say Halloween did more to define the "slasher" genre, id say they are both equally innovative and important. Friday the 13th films are the rehashed, regurgitated stereotypes of the genre. Altho jason IS a cool character, christ even the Friday the 13th music sucks:o say it with me naw

Che eh eh eh eh AH ah ah aha ha, thats no soundtrack:o
