I couldn't care less what he did at his work site. It's none of my business. My interest in Christian Bale extends only as far as the movie screen.

THANK YOU

That guy was an idiot. He totally deserved to get an ass chewing. From what was screamed, apparently he was walking around checking lights during a take. And doing so while clearly in Bale's view. Yeah sure, bale's not all that great of an actor, which is even more a reason for him to take his job seriously. Especially on such a high dollar/high profile project.
All actors are dicks, that guy should have known better.

See what I mean? Take it easy 'Christian', please don't tear down my lights man.

I think the message was valid, but the extent he went to convey it unnecessary...overly public in it's execution, and would not only have been quite humiliating (not being able to say anything much back at all, on account of higher ups considering the actor of greater importance) but has probably effected this guys career in a negative way when a private word, however "harsh" would have showed a bit more concern for the actual problem, not just to take a chunk out of someone.
Like it was said earlier - There's different ways to approach things...while I can understand why he may have been distressed/angered by this, but I personally don't think it was call for as such; key points being repeated numerous times just to keep the rant rolling.
There's ways to behave, and not...what he did, it's almost like punching the counterhand at a burger joint if your order isn't right.
Just seemed a bit snotnosed of a thing to do.

No, this won't effect my future enjoyment of his films.

To a certain extent, I can see where Bale is coming from. This guy is getting paid big bucks to perform a job and his job isn't to be distracting the actors in mid-scene. That would be extremely irritating and from some of the things said, it sounds like it's a constant issue with this guy.

Another thing to note is that the video loops just a few seconds over and over and over. The second half of the ass-chewing sounds like Bale is calming down, but the video doesn't show any of that.

Basically, the way I see it, Bale tears this fuck up a new one for about a minute and then starts winding down.

*shrug*

Some people need their asses chewed out sometimes so personally, I don't think this is that big of a deal. Certainly not worthy of the exposure it's getting.

Yes, but couldn't it be said that Christian Bale is a man getting paid bigger bucks to perform a job and not to create a feeling of physical and pyschological threat on a set?

There's no question Bale has an ego but I'm not sure I'd consider that asschewing a physical threat. (Although, if I were the guy getting chewed out, I'd certainly be hoping he'd take a swing at me. Cha-ching!)

As for psychological threat, I can only assume that probably exists for everyone except the top dogs on any set. Piss off the wrong person and you're done, not only on the film but quite possibly in Hollywood. This guy pissed off the wrong person. He's actually lucky Bale didn't get him fired because I'm sure he could have if he pressed the issue.

Bale's getting paid bigger bucks to perform a job that this guy was preventing him from performing. I don't entirely condone the way he handled it, but I can see where he's coming from. For all we know, this could have been an incredibly difficult scene that they'd already shot 30 times that day, then they get it perfect and this numbnuts fucks it up, possibly resulting in another 30 takes before they get it perfect again. It could have been at the tail end of a 16 hour day riddled with this guy fucking things up and Bale finally lost his cool. It happens. No one's perfect, not even Christian Bale.

I think christian bale's reaction was perfectly reasonable.
