The only reason why I think they gave Freddy such a new look is because in Wes's mind it isn't the Freddy Heather has known in the movies, it isn't Robert, its some other Freddy who just so happens to be based off the movies.

Exactly! If you actually observe the character of Freddy in New Nightmare, he's not the old Freddy at all. He's supposed to be more demonic and evil than ever... And he is! And they wanted the viewers to be able to separate Freddy from Robert, interesting tactic! He also has a different style of shirt (same ol' colours though) and leather pants.

His hat is different too. Glove too. Also he is wearing dominatrix like boots. And the trench coat adds to character I think.

you know, despite his "sex symbol" status, i genuinly do think johnny depp is a great actor.

Anyway, I don't care if he dies in a movie, I just thought his death in NOES was sad. :(

But, yeah, his mask did look fucked up in New Nightmare. Rather than looking rubber, it looked kind of plastic I thought.

Back in August he was on "The New Tom Green Show" and he was talking about Freddy Vs. Jason, and talking about Freddy's costume in the movie. He said they tried to make it look as close to the original as possible. Because, he's getting older and it's harder to put the Freddy face on him. He also said he didn't want the rubber to look so fake that he looked like a used condom in the movie.

I WILL have those boots someday.:D
