I usually think of G'n'R as more of a 90's band. Appetite For Destruction was definately one of the best albums of the 80's, though.

As far as bands that define the decade for me:
Judas Priest
Iron Maiden
Megadeth
Metallica
Ratt
Cinderella
Twisted Sister
Motley Crue
Van Halen
Ozzy

I always thought of Kiss & Cooper as 70's bands.

I suppose you have a point there, but I guess Appetite was really the only album of theirs I ever got into big time and since that was late 80s, that's the decade I equate them with. You're right though. Most of their albums came out in the 90s.

Well the 80's give me a lot of good groups:

The Cult

Motley Crue

Sisters of Mercy

bauhaus

I know that maybe 60's and 70's were better for rock but I preffer to listen to groups from the 80's than things like emo, new metal and all that kind of music

All these are great bands. TO tell the truth I mainly made this thread because I have room to fill on my iPod. Do you lot like slade, atomic rooster, status quo and thin lizzy? They're pretty cool. What about rock music in films? What do you guys think? There should be a whole section on HDC about rock! Do any of you guys think steve tyler has a very thin face and odd mouth? But he does rule.

The 80's produced an amazing heap of creative music. It was another musical renaissance I tell ya!

OH! oh. And, uh, people, people. Let us not forget, EBN-OZN and their wonderful song "AEIOU Sometimes Y."

That video was on MTV all the time and I remember we used to laugh and laugh whenever it came on because it was so goddamn weird.

I can't believe I forgot Dio! What's 80's metal without songs about dragons & wizards?

Oh, and of course, the greatest band to ever exist.....
KROKUS!
