Not banned, just not picked up by any other distribution companies. Hundreds of films are made each year without a built-in distribution deal And most of these go undistributed.

This ditribution company was created by Courtney Solomon (writer/director/producer/distributor of An American Haunting) as a way to bring low budget horror to the theaters.

Hood of Horror Trailer

Now the #1 movie I want to see at Horrorfest, it is the special 9th screening . . . you have to see all 8 films and present the stubs at the door for entrance. But the trailer is SO DAMN GOOD!

I've seen half the films, and they are all worth seeing, in one way or another, which makes me eager to see the other half (I hope they're as good). This fest has something for everyone.

The exception is SNOOP DOGG'S HOOD OF HORRORS, which is okay as camp but doesn't really work as a horror film. TALES FROM THE HOOD was much better.

Hood of Horrors must be the worse movie I've seen in a long time!

hollywoodgothiq 11-15-2006 03:09 PM

I'm pretty sure I've seen worse - but I don't want to have to think about it!

Anyway, I'm sorry they tossed HOOD OF HORROR into the mix, because it degrades the fest.

If you can't make it to all the films, I'd recommend:

UNREST - if you like your horror gruesome and disturbing
THE GRAVEDANCERS - if you like something more spooky
PENNY DREADFUL - if you like psycho-slasher movies
THE HAMILTONS - if you have a taste for more of a serious art house type of approach

I'm going to this, but the only films I'm going to watch are Reincarnation and The Hamiltons.

hollywoodgothiq 11-15-2006 07:11 PM

Yeah, I'm looking forward to REINCARNATION, too. It's one I haven't seen yet.

Being the 19th....let's here it. Who saw what/how was it? Anyone see all of them at one sitting???

Shady 11-19-2006 05:49 PM

I have seen Unrest and Dark Ride. I must say I was very impressed. Coming into the theatre I was thinking it was going to be a cheap, low-budget peice of shit. Let's just say I cannot wait to see the others.

Dark Ride: More of a slasher film with a little comedy added.
Unrest: More of a gory and disturbing film. The plot could have been improved though.

Just got home from watching The Hamiltons. What a waste of money. I have no fucking clue as to why this film was added to a horror festival. A way to describe this movie is "Party of Five on crack". The twist towards the end wasn't really much of a surprise, and it was actually disappointing. It wasn't scary, very little gore, the acting was subpar, etc. I wish I had picked a different movie to watch.

Here in my area, this Afterdark fest lasts until Tuesday, so I will probably watch Reincarnation. Anyone else here besides the guy who hates subtitles watch it? If its a piece of shit, I'd rather not waste my money and time on it.
