I just watched 1 & 2 recentley. I enjoyed them especially 2 there were some really cool scenes and it was a good fun movie. I got annoyed by the American Pie and Dawson's Creek guys in the original but whatever I'm a picky bastard like that. At least it didn't annoy me as much as Martin Henderson in the Ring (or anything) or Anthony Ray in the Matrix (thankfully I haven't seen him pop up in anything else!). Shit/Soap actors kinda kill movies for me.... I guess they put teenage girl's bums on seats and pay for shit but a lot of the time it just totally ruins the atomosphere for me.

i always say the freeway scene is amazing - especially for a movie like this one ...

and the death scenes were old school fun - like back in the days of the origional Omen..

Definatley. I thought the freeway scene looked great especially for these days where CGI sticks out like dogs balls in these type of flicks.
I liked the sinister tone aswell because no matter what you believe in spiritually its a inevitable fact you die and you can't change that. Its a fear everyone can relate to and it was cool seeing the characters deal with that.
Final Destination 2 is destined for cult status (as is the second Urban Legend and Valentine) because it was executed well, had a good cast and exceded expectations (I'm sure people will disagree on UL: Final Cu and Valentine but I love slashers and these had a great old school tone that I loved). I don't think 3 will live up to my enjoyment of 2 and the original was pretty predestrian and I doubt I'll watch it again..... maybe the bit with the American Pie kid's head getting fucked up :D

i nthought the 1st one was aiming for more of a young teen audience.

it wasnt very clever and was unevenly paced. The deaths were - as you said - pedestrian.

Part 2 was an almost flawless horror film .. totally unexpected.

i keep making comparrisons to The Omen because back in the day - the best horror movies had 2 or 3 spectacular inventive death scenes that had people anticipating the next horror - and talking about it later for days ...

during the latter part of the 80's and beyond horror filmmakers stopped doing that ... it was just hack and slash ... or - they'd go stupid overboard in the other direction (like the Jason or Freddie movies)

FD2 found the right balance ..

FD 3 was alrite, the sunbed deaths were 'genius' . Most the others were crap basically down to cgi, just like in FD 2.
