I heard Mahaila(sp?)Jackson and she's good.
... maybe when I think of gospel,I think of the boring off-key music played in my church growing up:)

yeah, there is nothing more bland and (ironically) uninspired than most church music .. especially the pathetic attempts to modernize it.
You'd think that believers who were trying to express the love they feel for god would put a little more skill and effort into their songs of praise...

the lyrics are for the most part juvinile and childishly simplistic ... and i dont think that was the goal despite the 'we're all gods children thing'

you'd also think that these people would be blessed with a little talent .. but thats just me being a prick.

what i dig is the wailing crash and thunder old time gospel (think Blues Brothers)

a lot of powerful voices started in gospel .. then withered and died on the pop music vine ..

thats progress for you ...

Very True,if it was true spiritual fervor-then it would be nice to HEAR it.

Well,I am curious to know...what are some good gospel music for me to check out?
...I'm all for listening to anything with talent and if there is talented gospel, hell,I'll try any music once or twice-you know?

@noct-if you don't mind saying here, what is this other forum-is it a recommended place for music lovers?

It's a Wheel of Time forum, actually. So, not really anything specifically music related. As for your gospel question, I would recommend 16 Horsepower. Not really specifically gospel, but many of their songs are very much religious-themed. Not sure if it would be your style though... It's very, very dark bluegrass/country/goth.

I don't really have a particular style of music,I like anything that moves me.
I just tried of hearing the same things on the radio.
In my opinion-there are so many incredible sounds out there to sample-why waste your ears on one type day in day out.
My favorite is still and will always be NIN,although I can't listen to it everyday.

I will check out this suggestion, and thank you.

You're quite welcome. I'd recommend starting off with Secret South as that's probably the most accessible of their records.

I'll do a net search and see if I can hear a sample.
All our music stores are closing around here,so I won't bother:D

Metal

Not My Music
Everything else.

I've found anything that isn't metal, is inferior.
