If you've ever studied Catholicism, the Virgin Mary didn't die. (She ascended body & soul into heaven.) She is the only person in recorded history that I am aware of to escape death. (Whether you believe that or not is an entirely different matter, but that's what's written in the Bible.)

If life were too easy, it wouldn't be worth living (kind of a strange statement, but i think you get the idea.. basically, what i'm saying, the good, the bad... its all important)

Anyway.. thats exactly why paradise/heaven/immortality would never work (im speaking religious wise, of course... but this is just IMO. as in, no, im not down with living forever in paradise under God's grace. I'm gonna make sure I can do all i can now).

Like Mitch said, Jesus technically died once, then came back from the dead 3 days later and went body and soul to heaven. He didn't really escape death in the way that the Virgin Mary did, he resurrected.
