If life seems jolly rotten,
There's something you've forgotten,
And that's to laugh and smile and dance and sing.
When you're feeling in the dumps,
Don't be silly chumps.
Just purse your lips and whistle. That's the thing.
And...

Always look on the bright side of life.
[whistling]
Always look on the right side of life,
[whistling]

For life is quite absurd
And death's the final word.
You must always face the curtain with a bow.
Forget about your sin.
Give the audience a grin.
Enjoy it. It's your last chance, anyhow.
So,...

Always look on the bright side of death,
[whistling]
Just before you draw your terminal breath.
[whistling]

Life's a piece of shit,
When you look at it.
Life's a laugh and death's a joke. It's true.
You'll see it's all a show.
Keep 'em laughing as you go.
Just remember that the last laugh is on you.
And...

Always look on the bright side of life.
[whistling]
Always look on the right side of life.
[whistling]
Always look on the bright side of life!

Always look on the bright side of life!

I'm gonna be singing in the shower.....~always look on the bright side of life, always......~

What a silly question... Mel's done some classics, but they were never quite of the caliber of Monty Python, plus, they had the good sense to quit while they were ahead.

Oh, yeah.. and Graham Chapman died....

mel brooks films were fun ...
but i dont think they hold a candle to the blend of slapstick and cerebral humor that was Python.

Albert Brooks is a better comparrison than Mel ...
much smarter films - although they deal exclusively with the human condition is a more cynical way than Python was .. until the Meaning of Life.

in that movie you could tell it was their last..

They always had affection for the people they were parodying until that point... with Meaning i found it far more mean spirited than anything before .. a sure sign of an inevitable split - when bitterness shows through in the work.

and it was a shame about Chapman .. it would have been nice to see the guys get together after they had a breather from each other - from time to time.

Python still stands up to the test of time where Mel Brooks movies are very dated.

Except for Young Frankenstein....that one still cracks me up.

taylorsmommy 02-22-2005 05:20 AM

Blazing Saddles still cracks me up, too.

Vodstok 02-22-2005 05:22 AM

I still love Blazing Saddles because it just doesnt fit into today's society. You would NEVER get away with racial temrs getting tossed around that flagrantly, especially for "funny" these days. it would get an NC-17 and be banned in every American theater.

"the sherrif's a n-*DING!*"
"What did he say?"
"He said the Sherrif's near."

urgeok 02-22-2005 05:24 AM

spaceballs definately had moments .. but it came out way to late to be relevant.

silent movie was his smartest film ...pretty clever in parts ..

even high anxiety had some good stuff..

but still, blazing saddles, young frankenstein, and silent movie were his best

As would All in the Family.Thats what I mean by a sign of the times.

Definitely Python over Brooks any day.
