I bought a whole bunch of DVDs recently. Some Giallos, some Carpenters, Romero's.
The upside: they were super cheap. The downside: they came from a video store that's closing down. |

I recently got some DVDs at a pawn shop during a special sale. The regulars were $1 and blue-ray were $3. I got ($1) the four Alien film pack, the three Spiderman film pack (Sam Rami), Borat, Casino Royale (2006); blue-ray: The Thing (2003), Ender's Game. If I don't want to keep them, I'll sell them back to the pawn, probably for the same price, or donate to my town library. Of course, can't beat checking them out from the library too. |

I like buying DVDs from Walmart. They're super cheap now and a lot of them you can get for $5 to $10 dollars. Also you'd be amazed at how many great classics on DVD you can order from their website.
I like DVDs better than I do Blu-ray or downloads. I don't trust downloaded movies and older movies look like crap on Blu-ray (Sometimes I feel like they do that on purpose just so we'll be forced to watch all these crappy new movies that nobody really cares about). DVDs may tear up easily but at least they're more affordable and there's a much wider selection of movies and shows available on DVD than on Blu-ray or digital download. |

Stephen King set: The Stand, The Langoliers, Golden Years, The Dead Zone, Pet Sematary, Silver Bullet, Graveyard Shift.

I've bum read a few of his books, many to get a taste of his writing style, as I never devoured an entire King book. I think my top three King film's would be The Shawshank Redemption, Misery and Stand by Me. |

Movies, that's harder because people usually make crappy movies out of his books. I guess Cujo, Silver Bullet, and Storm of the Century. |

I ordered Nosferatu and Carnival of Souls on Bluray. Both should arrive in the mail soon. ::cool::
I'm a little disappointed that this version of Nosferatu isn't really in black and white though. It's the edited version with weird colored shades of yellow and green. I also read that they cropped the screen. I mean wtf? Not exactly the version I was hoping for. ::sad:: |

silent movies in color
Back in the days of silent films, they were often shown on various colors of film stock for mood.

dvd's from Walmart
A few years ago, the problem with buying dvds at Walmart that they often tried to pack too many movies onto the same dvd, and they didn't have enough space left on the dvd to have searching by time.
I think that the memories on the dvds have now gotten big enough so that is no longer a problem. Also, on their dvds of very old movies, the picture quality was sometimes not very good. |
