What makes you think anybody but Horror himself has any "rights" on this forum? It's owned by one person and moderated by a few people chosen by him. If a moderator feels the need to edit or remove a post then it's their decision. Send a PM to Horror about how you feel and if he feels something wrong has been done then maybe there will be some action in a few months.

Nobody mentioned 'rights', except in my original post about the rights of the governing few who are able to delete posts and people at their discretion.

A message forum is about a two-way understanding between the site owners/moderators and the participants. I was under the impression people who use this site understand they can have their posts viewed, so long as they are not blatantly offensive or against specific site rules. It is not a privilege to have your voice heard here. Take away this service too often, and people with leave the forum - the forum is nothing without people.

This issue concerns everyone here, so it is not a PM matter.

Although his exit inspired it, Dave and the others were gone before this thread was conceived so there was no danger of that here.

I mentioned (if the post still exists) that I personally would not have deleted his comments since very few of them seemed particularly offensive. I also asked how many people made a fuss of his - in hindsight - occasionally rather dubious references at the time.

However the moderators exercised their to remove Dave and his posts, given what transpired. No contributors to this thread are guity of the same behaviour, however.

You're right...It does help to get it out...It's good to let everyone know that they weren't the only ones, so they won't think that it was somehow their fault, or because of something they did or said
