Brazilian Writer/Director/Actor Jose Mojica Marins returns as Ze do Caixao (or Coffin Joe) in this bizzaro sequel to At Midnight I'll Take Your Soul. The story follows an agnostic philosopher of a grave digger in search of a perfect (read - morally bankrupt) woman to bear his son and thus keep his "superior" bloodline alive. But women who aren't up to snuff get...snuffed. Although the story is thin and quite slow, the lensing is excellent, the mood is brilliantly creepy and the dream sequence leaps from black & white to vivid giallo-esge color in an incredible depiction of hell. Of course the film devolves into moralism in the end, but is rather subversive (for the time and the country) up until the end.

I remember last year some time getting home from work and not wanting to go to sleep (it was 3 am or something) and there was this coffin joe marathon on scream. I had the most fucked up dreams ever falling in and out of consciousness...

the beyond, 8/10. for a low budget 70's gore fest it really stands up. some effects are slightly dated but you have to bare with it.:cool:

The Hills have Eyes 2 (2007)

I was expecting for the sequel eagerly. Though the story was very mediocre with a poor ending but still it's better than many other horror flicks that has been released recent days.

Well this was different. Not at all like a typical werewolf film but I found it fairly entertaining. There's not too much gore, but what's there looks good. The acting was good, the diredcting was good and the story was more like a serial killer drama than a werewolf movie, but I think it works in this film.
