Actress Googie Withers, best known for her role in Alfred Hitchcock's The Lady Vanishes, has died aged 94.
Googie (born Georgette Lizette Withers) died in her home in Australia on Friday. http://cdn.mos.totalfilm.com/images/...014-470-75.jpg She was born in British India in 1917, and she took up acting at 12 years old, when her family returned to England. She worked on a huge number of British films throughout the '30s and '40s, including The Lady Vanishes, Powell and Pressburger's One Of Our Aircraft Is Missing and Ealing Studios' portmanteau spooker Dead Of Night. Withers met her husband, Australian actor John McCallum, on the set of The Loves Of Joanna Godden in 1947, and they were married the next year. The pair starred in nine more films together, as well as a number of plays. McCallum, who is remembered for co-creating Skippy The Bush Kangaroo, died last year, aged 91. Withers final film performance was in Shine in 1996. |

Veteran actor Tom Aldredge has lost his battle with cancer at the age of 83.

Aldredge was a regular on stage and screen, appearing in films like Cold Mountain in 2003 and The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford in 2007. He appeared on hit TV series The Sopranos and Boardwalk Empire and co-starred with Glenn Close on two seasons of legal drama Damages. He also earned a Daytime Emmy Award in 1978 for Outstanding Individual Achievement in Children's Programming for his role on Henry Winkler Meets Shakespeare; an episode aired as part of The CBS Festival of Lively Arts for Young People. A celebrated Broadway star, Aldredge also starred in more than 28 stage productions including The Crucible, Twelve Angry Men and Tom Sawyer. He landed a total of five Tony Award nominations throughout his stage career for performances in shows such as Sticks and Bones (1972), Stephen Sondheim musical Passion (1994), and Twentieth Century (2004). He also starred opposite the late Dame Elizabeth Taylor in The Little Foxes in 1981. |

Seriously though, its not funny to make fun of the dead. Not really surprising though. Its sad the road people take sometimes. |
It's pretty sad. She was talented and beautiful before all this drugs and alcohol crap ruled her life. My condolences to her family, friends, and fans.

I didn't listen to her music a lot but she did have talent. RIP Amy
