We had a state championship wrestling team in high school for 27 years in a row I believe so naturally Our Town thought it was better than Jesus even though if you don't believe in Jesus you might as well be the devil. people always treated me differently there even from the time I first moved there as a small child from St Louis and I was viewed as an outsider by everyone even though that's where my mother was born and raised. I never felt right there and on top of that everyone was Christians and not just Christians but Southern Baptist Christians who many would describe as religious extremists in some of their methods. I feel really weird and out of place in Las Vegas as well now but to be fair I just moved it to thousand miles away from home and I've only been here for 3 months now. It's a learning experience and I'm not even sure that I'm going to want to live here the remainder of my days as I just love to Travel and there is still so much out there for me to see. I spent so much time in my life focusing on wanting companionship or friends and I've realized that if all I ever do is Chase dreams then I'm going to miss out on reality.

I think all small towns in the South are like that when it comes to sports, especially football. My high school thought that their little football team was the greatest thing on earth and of course I never gave a damn about football or any other sports.

I wasn't exactly raised with religion but I did used to go to Sunday school at a Southern Baptist church myself before I decided to quit going and gradually became an atheist. I think the thing that turned me away from religion the most was when I started to realize that I was gay. I've had to put up with so many people treating me bad and telling me that homosexuals needed to die and burn in hell and all that other crap. So I decided a long time ago that I wasn't going to believe in a God who says that I'm going to hell for something that I KNOW for a fact is not a choice. I didn't choose to be gay I was born that way. Believe me if I could have made the choice to be straight (or at least bisexual) it would have solved so many problems in my life.

But I think I need to quit ranting about my own personal feelings about religion lol.

Morningriser 08-24-2018 09:23 AM

I'm sure you're not the only one here who has issues with or has struggled with religion at some point in your life. I just found it pretty. The way everyone acted back home in regards to how crazy they would act but then think it would be okay because they are a Christian and they can just ask for forgiveness. I mean I have known people that are so fucking batshit crazy they would tell me that they would killer kids that God told him to do it. This same crazy-ass Fruit Loop tried to say that whenever she saw evil people she could see them as literal demons and this same lady cheated on her husband, the second highest ranking police officer in the county, with someone who had no job, no intention on trying to find a job and someone who's just leech off of them and had no problems taking and breaking bread with the man who was going out risking his life everyday to support his family while his wife was getting fucked while he was at work. Their excuse? They are Christians and they are not perfect but they can ask for forgiveness and God will forgive them. I just love how they use that as an excuse. Seeing as how Christianity and started three Crusades leaving Millions if not more dead in the name of God. I'm just wondering when are we going to get a Fourth Crusade where everyone who isn't Christian just goes after everyone who is... I mean it the world's going to get nuts why can't we at least get nuts in the right way for once? We are going to wipe someone out by not someone who would actually benefit the world being gone? Sorry... I also get really worked up and bent out of shape over religion. It's nothing more than a system of control through fear and a way to make money. I mean if Joel Osteen isn't proof of that I don't know what it is. I wish someone would pay me 128 million dollars every 5 years so I can stand in front of everyone and tell them lies and have them and one every word as if I am Jim Jones or something.

LuvablePsycho 08-24-2018 10:34 AM

Yeah I figured out a long time ago that the vast majority of Christians are hypocrites. They say that murder is a sin yet so many people throughout history have been executed and killed in wars all in the name of God and Jesus. They say only God can judge people and yet they themselves are always quick to judge people for not living up to their standards. Some Christians would even try to drive you into committing suicide for not being perfect because the sheer act of being human is a sin and then mock you saying that you are going to hell because suicide is an unforgivable sin. And I totally agree with you about Christians thinking that they can do bad things all they want and it will be all be OK because God will personally forgive them just because they believe in Jesus. I see that kind of thing all the time.

I feel like the religion itself borders on narcissism.

Sorry morningriser. No drug paraphenalia to be posted on the main page/s yeah?
I'd usually like to take a look...though posting such pics on here isn't really gonna fly.
Feel free to talk about it, and/or show me or any other interested parties in message though.

Well, today we were going to take River to see her first movie. Local cinema was showing the Lion King again. As you can tell I'm talking in past tense.
She decided to pull the "not listen to anything or follow any directions at all or eat her breakfast" 4 year old type shit...so we are teaching her about consequences and the importance of listening.
Maybe next time.

It sounds cliche but all we can do is hang in there. Believe me, I I am hanging on for dear life at times but at the end of the day that's all we can do.

4 years old? You're brave. I didnt take any of my kids to the movies until i think 6. They didnt really understand the concept of being quiet until then and my stepson still cant really control his volume even at 9.

It's a "bring young kids" type session, and the tickets are only 5 bucks so I figure if it becomes a shitshow we can just walk on it.
She's usually pretty good though. Took her to a funeral like a year ago.

that's a tough one and I wouldn't know how to answer that for you but I personally know if I went through what you have I would probably not be able to do anything with anyone for a while but it's not about me, it's about you and how you feel because only you know what you need but like I said I personally wouldn't do it because while a loved one has never died while I was with them, someone I cared greatly for cheated on me and broke my heart so I'm more or less had to treat it as if she was dead in order to get over her. it's a tough situation and I'm sure you will be able to work it all out In the end.

...and nice picture, you little stinker ::big grin::

before moving to Las Vegas, the hottest weather I can remember ever being in was either 103 or 104. I believe the hottest it has been since I have been in Vegas is 117 degrees. Needless to say I have spent the better part of the summer indoors. the Mojave Desert is no joke and Las Vegas is only an hour and 45 minutes from Death Valley, the average hottest place in the country, in addition to the area that the Manson family hid out until they were arrested.

I didn't really feel like creating a whole thread about this, but apparently what was at first believed to be a remake, the Rock is now going to produce and star in a sequel to Big Trouble in Little China. I'm not sure how I feel about this.

And this is what we have become. The American populace would rather a celebrity run the country because we like characters they play, because apparently some people think that's who they really are. it's disgusting and makes me question not only the Integrity of the American population, but the mental state as well. Politicians are groomed their entire lives to handle such responsibilities. They are all crooked as hell and have their own agendas obviously, but the point is, they at least still have certain disciplines that celebrities who think because of who they are they can gain the popular vote because they are famous, don't really know much more than what they've learned since they got the sudden idea they wanted to be president because Donald Trump became president. Hell, even Bruce Jenner or whatever the fuck it calls itself wants to run for president. This country is a joke and believe me, if I had the money to move and be able to quickly get a job and not worry about potentially going completely blind one day, I would leave this country in the dust. The government does give me my disability so I am thankful to them for that, but slave owners also paid their slaves.

LuvablePsycho 08-28-2018 10:35 AM

The U.S.A. has become a country based off a movie or based off a TV show. I guess that's our biggest problem is that we are easily influenced by the media and we can't seem to separate movies and television from reality.

Also it disgusts me the way our celebrities have fans who really do believe that they should be able to get away with thinks like rape and murder. Like Bill Cosby for example. I get so sick of hearing his fans defend him because they think that the character he played on The Cosby Show couldn't possibly do that kind of thing and all of these many women who are coming out about what he did are just being evil to their favorite actor.

Talk about a rape culture... ::roll eyes::

The Simpsons predicted that Arnold Schwarzenegger would be president and we know that a lot of their predictions have come true

In fact I think they were the ones who actually predicted that Donald Trump would become president and that our country would become completely broke after he finished his term in office. I wonder if that's really going to happen to us?

I definently agree about the rampant sexism. Our society now seems to hate women more than ever. The fact that we elected a misogynistic pig as our president who insults women and their female body problems is proof of that.

Morningriser 08-29-2018 06:26 AM

Yes I agree as well... Everything nowadays is sexualized. I mean there are even people in this country who will base their friendships off of whether or not they find you sexually attractive. I see it every day here in Las Vegas. Thanks to the media putting off the presentation of what is socially acceptable and unacceptable has desensitized men and women alike 2 crave and obsess over sex as if it's the only thing in life that matters. I mean it's been put on a pedestal and celebrity dies in a way. Sex is fun, don't get me wrong, but that is just one of all the billions and billions of things humans do and or are capable of doing. The media however has made it seem like sex is something that should be reserved for only a certain class of people because if you are fat or ugly or have any physical imperfections, you are a reject and a defect to this image of what America should be in which I call the fourth Reich. We can call ourselves a democracy all we want but it doesn't change the fact that masks are being worn by commies on Capitol Hill.

I kind of think of Americans as being like the ancient Egyptians or ancient Romans. We have an obsession with physical beauty so we portray our people as being more beautiful and attractive than they really are.

Think about the carved statues and paintings of beautiful people in those cultures, and then think about how Hollywood portrays Americans in their movies as these gorgeous people who wear the best clothes and are always neatly trimmed with nice muscle tone. We all know that the majority of Americans do NOT look anything like the ones you see in movies.
