So glad you liked it!

I haven't been feeling great lately, which required some comfort movies -

Butter (2011)

Second-time viewing and I loved it even more this time around. I love the characters, I love the actors - Everyone is simply brilliant and this movie turns well on sweet moments to dirty humor. Olivia Wilde is simply STUNNING and a scene-stealer, Jennifer Garner is brilliant, and Rob Corddry is really charming. I love this little movie. Definitely recommended.

Young Adult (2011)

This was my second time watching this movie and I loved it even more. I think it's a sad but honest and accurate portrayal of a woman going through a midlife crisis. Well-written and brilliantly acted, Charlize Theron is incredible to watch as her character just implodes. And Patton Oswalt is really sympathetic and charming. Definitely recommended as a good, solid character drama.

Your Sister's Sister (2011)

My Mark Duplass fix of the week! I liked it. Not as much as I liked, say, Humpday or True Adolescents, but Duplass was really charming (yep, used that word three times in this post already!) - The end is a little too neat for my taste, but it was a good little watch. Duplass, Emily Blunt, and Rosemarie DeWitt have great chemistry together. Good little character piece.

Cute little Buddy Chick Flick. Will probably be ultimately forgettable, but it's cute.

Chrono - regarding "Butter", I thought my man Hugh Jackman did a damn good job, too! LOL

K-Pax

First time i've seen it - not bad. Not a light of weight - but not bad

The Wolverine

saw it in the theatres when it came out - this was the first home viewing.
great action but fairly weak in the character development.
Still a fun watch ...

YES! He was EXCELLENT! I thought that both the main actors and the bit parts were great - Such a fun little movie.

It definitely is. I was a little nervous going into it, but really enjoyed it.

I finally got to see Thor 2: The Dark World.

Enjoyable enough, though pretty much what I expected. I think I liked the story of the first one a little better, but this one had a lot more special effects that were cool to see.

Sad and very moving. One of Joaquin Phoenix's best performances if not his best

Agreed. I loved this film. I have a B.A. in History and I'm hoping to specialize in the history of institutions when I eventually move on to graduate school. In my undergrad years, my first dissertation was on TB hospitals, although I think it would be really cool to branch out and study youth reformatories like the one featured in "King of Devil's Island".

I just remembered another one:

The Major Of Hell (1933)
Five members of a teen-age gang, including leader Jimmy Smith, are sent to the State Reformatory, presided over by the melodramatically callous Thompson. Soon, Patsy Gargan, a former gangster appointed Deputy Commissioner as a political favor, arrives complete with hip flask and blonde. Gargan falls for activist nurse Dorothy and, inspired by her, takes over the administration to run the place on radical principles. But Thompson, to conceal his years of graft, needs a quick way to discredit Gargan...

I thought it was a great movie but I'm a bit of a James Cagney fan.
