American Horror Story. For the longest time I didn't know it existed, then I just kept hearing about how much people liked it- ChronoGrl's post pushed me over the edge to watch it. Glad I did, I've been having a difficult time finding something to watch lately, especially something that's still running on TV.

ImmortalSlasher 08-30-2012 03:18 PM

Grimm.

Really strong start to the second season. I'm pleased with how they handled the partner too.

fortunato 09-02-2012 10:23 PM

Holy cow. Did anyone see the season finale of Breaking Bad?

Cause whoa.

iSeymore 09-03-2012 06:06 AM

Breaking Bad episode 5.08, the last episode until July 2013 when they begin the other half of season 5, before they end the series.

Atraxi 09-04-2012 11:25 AM

Psychoville but I really didn't like it.

The new series of Doctor Who-episode one of five (?)
Asylum Of The Daleks:
It came back with one hell of an epic bang and proved that the daleks still have great staying power offering more inventive thrills than ever. I just hope the rumour that there's going to be only five episodes (before the traditional shitty xmas special) this year-I pray that we see more.

Amazing that the show was broadcast LAST saturday and is still the last tv show I've seen-very excited about tonights episode will have to record it :)

Love that show. Recently watched that and All That together.

Wallander

This was my first time seeing this. Wish I had known about it before. Kenneth Branagh is excellent in it.

ImmortalSlasher 09-10-2012 09:20 AM

Coma.

I guess this is a TV movie/mini series. I only watched it because I vaguely remember seeing the older movie. I used to feel safe in a hospital. Maybe I went to good ones when I was young. But I've seen and heard many real horror stories and witnessed incompetence at hospitals. The main character is the type of doctor that should work in a hospital. The ideas in this show were interesting but it feels like one of those women's network/LMN shows. They setup a sequel which I hope never happens.

First I read the book, then saw the movie with Michael Douglas and Genvieve (sp?) Bujold. The book is the best. I believe the author is Robin Cook.

Edit: Just checked on Barnes & Noble's website, yes, the author is Robin Cook.

Breaking Bad

Did I really just watch an entire episode of Walt and Jesse trying to kill a fly? And was it really one of the best episodes I've seen yet?

ImmortalSlasher 09-15-2012 07:22 AM

Blade Anime TV Cartoon.

Finished off the last few episodes. No where near as good as Blade II. Sometimes I don't get why they even bother. The people in charge have to know when something is just so so. Blade was kind of like James Bond in this going from place to place every episode. The best part is the opening. Only diehard Blade fans need to see this. And even then it's a stretch.

Fearonsarms 09-15-2012 08:11 AM

Doctor Who: Dinosaurs In A Ship-this was mainly for the kids that watch the show-every series there is an episode that is comparatively light hearted to the other episodes so at least they got it out of the way early. A stark contrast to the epic and dark opening episode but not bad by any means.

Man, I'm so glad you liked that episode. I've defended that one so many times.

I loved it. I can't see why people wouldnt like it. It was so nice to get away from all the bullshit fallout of the show and just focus on Walt, the meth, and everything he's going through. Plus i love Jesse and Walt together. They play off each other really well.

A lot of people complained that it was like a roadblock in the momentum of the show, but I totally disagree. I think that episode moves Jesse and Walt's relationship in a big way. And Walt's monologue about the perfect moment for him to have died is incredible.

I think it was just what the season needed. It was a perfect episode at a perfect time and you're right, that monologue was amazing.

Sons of Anarchy. (This is my second favorite drama on tv. My first is The Walking Dead and I am really anticipating the start of season 3 next month!)

Atraxi 09-16-2012 11:18 AM

Watched all of Spaced again.
Finished all of The IT Crowd (well, whatever was on Netflix).
Portlandia.
Re-watching old Doctor Who. Watched Asylum of the Daleks when it premiered and hated it. I'm way more of a RTD fan and really don't like the direction that Moffat is taking the show and I can't wait to get rid of the Ponds.

catching up on The Walking Dead...gotta finish season 2 before the start of the new season

My girlfriends really into Doctor Who so i just watched "Rose", the first episode that started off the new series. It's actually pretty good.

Freak 09-16-2012 09:35 PM

Just finished the first 6 seasons of Supernatural. I didn't think I'd care for the show to much but it's actually pretty good.

I started watching Doctor Who when I was like 5 years old and grew up with Tom Baker. I have ALL the Doctor Who episodes from the 3rd to the 8th Doctors (Movie) and am a major fan of the series. I am usually pretty critical and "underwhelmed" when someone tries to revamp something I like that much.

That said, the 1st season with Christopher Eccleston and Billie Piper as Rose was fantastic in my book. I lost interest after he decided not to come back. I've seen maybe a dozen David Tennant and Matt Smith episodes and have not been near as impressed as I was with the Eccleston & Piper season.

hammerfan 09-20-2012 02:07 AM

Ghost Hunters

Still a little strange not seeing Grant.

I agree with everything you said (Tom Baker is my fave Doctor of all time and I adored the Christopher Eccleston/Billie Piper series) and though I despised David Tennant (I quit watching the show after his second series) however I disagree about Matt Smith he has reinvigorated my adoration of the series. I love how much more majestic and epic the series has become and I think he is a million times better than the insincere tree trunk David Tennant was.

Speaking of which the last tv show I saw was the next in the new series:
A Town Called Mercy-I suppose it was inevitable that they would do a wild west episode with the doctor seeking redemption after showing no mercy at the end of "Dinosaurs In A Ship". I'm afraid my personal hatred of westerns meant I despised this especially as it throws up every cliche it can associated with the genre; duel at high noon etc. Still on the bright side it was certainly darker than Dinosaurs In A Ship but felt like an idea laced with plot holes and a poorly thought out concept that feels hastily thrown together in an effort to give it substance but fails miserably. Though I'm sure if you like Westerns and the idea of a sci-fi western you will lap it up.

Just getting through the U.S version of Wilfred, nearly finished season 2, I didn't think it was very good at first, just the change from the Australian characters I guess, but it has really gotten better. If you haven't seen it, or gave up after a few episodes I recommend you give it more time. It's very rewarding.
