Hopefully this style of fight scenes take off like the Crouching Tiger style fights took off. Truth be told, I much prefer these fight scenes to the ones where everybody's flying about and running up plant life and what not. Jaa manages to sustain a hell of a beating here with the big guy smashing things on him and keeps coming, while managing to make it look convincing and not just "he can't get hurt, he's the protagonist!"

Make sure to watch this clip even if you've seen the movie. It's the Japanese cut of it and it doesn't cut to black and white or anything, so it's a bit different. I didn't think Uma Thurman would make a convincing action heroine, having only seen her in Pulp Fiction and Batman & Robin, but she emphatically proves me wrong by maiming several dozen Japanese people.

Gotta go with Jaa in Ong Bak.

Apart from being one of the best choreographed sword swishing of all time, the switch-over from color to b/w and back (in the US version) added a unique blend to the bloodbath.

The Bride vs. the Crazy 88. One of my favourite fight scenes of all time but I'm a very biased Terrantino fan.
