Deniro has always been good, he just hasnt been in any good movies lately. performances are still strong. how can you turn down perfomances like Jake Lamotta from Raging Bull or Max Cady from Cape Fear?
Depp has had some good roles, but it just doesnt compare to Deniro.

Sure he does.

Depp is a much more colorful actor who can really make a difference in a movie (Secret window, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory etc.)

I don't see Deniro have the same impact.

Sorry.

Oh, I'm absolutely on your side on this one. DeNiro is getting old. Besides The Departed, Jack Nicholson's been playing pussy roles in chick flicks...but few on here will call him a bad actor. The same applies for DeNiro. There's a point in an actor's life where he just can't pump out the kind of films he/she used to.

What's important is to look back on their career. Depp is good. DeNiro is the better actor.

-ahem-

CLINT EASTWOOD is still amazing and vital as an artist. Jack and Deniro only know how to play themselves anymore...they've given up.

Where the F is Clint in this tourney?

Sorry, Clint Eastwood didn't make the cut, but if I ever run a sequel to this I'll make sure to throw him in.

I happen to disagre with you about that.

Yes, Deniro was/is a very good actor. But Depp is a much more Versitale actor than Deniro has ever been.

_____V_____ 05-01-2007 12:28 AM

Jack Nicholson.

About the whole DeNiro/Depp thing, DeNiro went on and got stereotyped in those Taxi Driver and Raging Bull characterisations. The only times he tried something different was in Cape Fear and Mary Shelley's Frankenstein, but by then he was stuck to that "personality" so bad that it didnt do much to give him a make-over. Cape Fear was good, really good. If only he had pursued such roles he would have become a bigger force to reckon with than any other actor out there.

Depp, on the other hand, has done a whole lot of different characterisations on-screen. Just run down the list of Depp movies and you have to admit, the variations of Depp is bound to impress anybody.

Its not about maintaining the mold you are in, but molding yourself to any shape, which makes a truly definitive actor.

Jack Nicholson will easily win this, so I vote one for Samuel L Jackson. He is too good an actor to get blobbed.
