Nice one bro. Got anything cool planned?

not really.....poolside with beers for the most part. A few day trips perhaps. Just having 2 weeks off is good enough for me.

Rockin' It'd be nice sitting by a pool pounding a few I'll have to wait a few months till this winter deal has run its course. Roaring fire and beers is just as good anyways

I need one of those pretty quick or it ll be a severe case of burnout...
Hope the guys at the DO consider my request soon and I am granted some days leave.
Running on fumes right now...

How much time do you get to take off each year? What's the criteria of them approving your leave? Getting someone in to relieve you for the time off or something?

_____V_____ 07-24-2009 05:53 AM

Well, I am entitled to 21 days leave per year, plus 1 day leave for every 11 working days.
Thing is, there's nobody to replace me while I m gone.
Plus, the agents/managers are dependent on my guidance for everyday work. Not to mention tackling the hundreds of customers who pour into the office everyday for their various stuff - claims (maturity and death), surrenders, cheques, monies, even normal enquiries.
If I take a leave, its basically them in the office. Ergo, DO (read Divisional Office, the ones above me) cant let me go unless its VERY urgent or I am sick in bed.
A leave of absence, therefore, is out of the question.
(Havent taken one in three continuous non-stop working years...seriously need one asap)

11:10 AM

Got up at an ungodly hour this morning (as in 5:30 am) - had to get some blood tests done, so I went into the clinic as soon as they opened so I wouldn't need to wait around. Worked out well...I was only there for a grand total of 15 minutes or so, registration and all. The less time spent in a hospital the better.

Now I'm just kind of lazing around the house. That's the downfall of getting up early on a day you have nothing to do - whole day ahead of me, with no plans whatsoever. Guess I'll do some more script work (show is coming along REALLY well), maybe pop in a movie or two. Looks like it'll just be a nice, slow, relaxing day...nothing wrong with that.

12:38 PM (Sunday, July 26)

Returned from shopping to find an unexpected and overwhelming gift waiting for me in my email.
Doc Faustus's Murderland I: H8!
Since amazon doesnt ship to India (damn em!), I had been scrounging shops everywhere for a copy - from local stores to Mumbai...but without luck.
Now thanks to Doc's fantastic gesture, I am finally in possession of a copy of his wonderful work.
Words fail to convey what I am feeling right now - its a combination of thrill, excitement, and also slightly overwhelmed and happy.
All I can say is - thank you, Garrett.:)
Going off now to have some lunch, and sit back to read Doc's book on a rainy Sunday afternoon, with a cup of hot ginger tea.
