It is very hard to watch someone you love go through that. And it is also very hard to be forgotten or feared by that person (off and on, my grandmother was convinced we were all out to get her). It can be very frustrating and almost impossible at times to keep your temper under control. That is very normal. It is just terrible and so sad. You can feel completely powerless.
I cannot imagine what it would be like to have to deal with that for 5 years.I don't even know which words to use to say how impressed I am with you. My mom takes care of grandmother and has a high-stress job....she or anyone who cares for people with altzheimer's deserve medals.

I agree. I really admire you Jenna. My mom is a nurse and works only with Alzheimers patients...I have enormous respect for her.

That's kind of you both, but really I had it easier than a lot of people. And I wasn't always so good at it...lol.

Your mom must be a saint, MM.:)

Pretty close to it, in my opinion anyway :) She's a great lady, that's for sure :)

I work in a nursing home I know what its like, sometimes I get really emotional because its so hard to actually watch someone with memory loss. I find it amazing how they dont recognize their own child and can tell me who I am. On a different subject, I would like to know how a guest can come on here reporting people? I was just checking who was online and saw that a guest is reporting a thread.I thought you had to be registered to do that?????
